Dreamcatcher Quilt in Blue Batiks
2 Attachment(s)
My sister-from-another-mother, Jasmine, is a Tslagi Cherokee medicine woman who asked me to make her a wall hanging in all blue fabrics. She chose Sue Bouchard's quilt, "Dreamcatcher", for the pattern, and I pieced the back with a turquoise feather print and teal solid. The basic quilting is stitch-in-the-ditch so as not to detract from the Four Directions. My plans are to embellish the top with some long, varying length "ray" stitches (1" to 2 1/2") in silver and deep turquoise holographic thread within the four quadrants but not on either the center or the flying geese or north/south/east/west units themselves. Jasmine will finish the quilt by hanging a 1 1/2" pendulum crystal from each of the four direction points, stabilized by a flat button on the back of the quilt.
For those who might be wondering why no animals are quilted into the wall hanging (I thought about doing that), Jasmine stated that for the intended purpose of this wall hanging, it should not have any animals either in the chosen fabrics or the quilting.
Thanks for looking!
