Picked up some fabric for a new baby quit I need to have done for a friend who is due in June. They tried for 7 years and finally they are pg. They are having a girl and decorating the nursery in butterflies. Will name her Alyssa Faith.

What do you think would be a good block to use?

The purple is flanel for the back

I like pinwheels for baby quilts for some reason. The yellow & white could be the pinwheels and the butterflies could be a block on their own. You wouldn't have to cut them up too much.

I can see that it would be pretty wouldn't it?

I think so-I would just hate cutting those beautiful butterflies!

i think those butterflies are ripe for the fussy cutting. Maybe some fusible applique? square in a square or something like that? I would love to see the finished product

I'm thinking the same thing...anything that allows you to show off the butterflies without cutting them up too much. Really pretty fabric!

I agree with others, something where you won't have to cut the butterfly fabric in too small of pieces. Maybe warm wishes with the butterfly fabric as the focus squares? All very pretty fabrics!

OOOO... so sweat. I'm envisioning blocks with a few fussy cut butterflies appliqued onto the white/vine fabric, windowed by the yellow floral, set on point or not. Then I'd try auditioning outter borders using a thin strip of the purple flannel and wide strip of the butterfly fabric. I'd also use the purple flannel for binding as well as backing. Then I would think about maybe tye quilting it using multiple strands of embroidery floss.
