Omgosh. One would have been a feat, but FIVE? You're amazing. :) It's beautiful.

cynde 08-06-2007 07:26 AM

What a beautiful idea, I can't believe you made five of them. Your siblings are very lucky.

If I ever make one, it will have to be a "nut" tree tho.

SandraJennings 08-06-2007 10:07 AM

How great! Certainly enough apples there to make a fantastic family pie....and you made 5! Hats off to you! :D

question, how would somebody make one of theese quilts if a dievorce is happening. but the female in the dievorce is my sis. and i can't stand her hus. but love my neice and knephew. i wanted to make one but with plain squares and then some kind of pattern for the next block and so on.

nanatn 08-07-2007 09:06 AM

what I did on this one was put the fathers name birth date the date married I did this so the children would know these importation dates after all he his their father the purpose of a family quilt is imformation the more history on it makes it more exciting to make the main thing is to have fun and enjoy doing good luck with your quilt and be sure and post it on the board

Norah 08-07-2007 11:01 AM

I want to make one. Did you make this up or is their a pattern? About the divorce, I would ignore that, and just put the apples for the kids with their dad. If someone remarries, add another apple somewhere close to the spouse and add more apples for the children next to his apple. I think from looking at the quilt that the apples below a row and farther out are the grandchildren and gggrandchildren of the children on the branches. Is that right?

Wow!That is beautiful! How blessed you are to have such a big family and how blessed they are to have you! :D I have been thinking about making one of these quilts...mine would probably look like yours, lol. I also have a large family. How long did it take you to make one of these quilts?

nanatn 08-07-2007 08:05 PM

No I DIDNT HAVE A PATTERN I had to use my brain this time and that was hard to do the large apples are for mom and dad at the top the next coming down next to the trunk are all their children 6 out beside each child is there children in under each of them are their children it took a lot of laying it on and taking it off but I had a great time doing the 5 guilts the greatest time was seeing the joy in my mom and brothers reserving there own quilt now that was worth it all thank you all again

nanatn 08-07-2007 08:15 PM

it took me 5mo to put the names and dates about 3wks to lay it out another 7mo to quilt that was working 10 to 12 hr days and some days longer many many mights I started them last july and f-----ed in june this yr a week before we were due in tx

live2teach 08-07-2007 08:43 PM

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of one of the apples up close, so we could see the detail a little better, would you?

ButtercreamCakeArtist 08-08-2007 04:52 AM

That is amazing!
I'm wanting to do something like this...I've thought about using the Printing on Fabric method to do pics of each person.

WHAT AMAZING WORK YOU DO! I like that it is all your design! I'm not very well at following patterns/directions!

ShellyQ 08-08-2007 12:04 PM

That is a fabulous quilt and to do five of them, wow. Your family are very lucky to have you.

Mamapeach417 08-09-2007 07:21 PM

Amazing work. What size is the quilt?

MaryAlice2 04-06-2011 09:12 AM

What a beautiful keepsake. And how lucky to be able to track all those apples along the way.

Diane007 09-22-2012 03:49 PM
