Making this for my brother for Christmas 2011. I am working ahead. The 9 rows are not sewed together yet. I think that it needs borders. What do you think?

how cute
I think that a border would finish this off beautifully.
very nice...
I like that fish fabric! Do you recall it's name or info at all? Beautiful quilt :)
Spectacular! I would add a border...maybe a thin stop, then border. Good job on being ahead for Christmas.

Love it! I would put a 1" (finished size) border first to frame it, then maybe a 4" border to finish it. Maybe the brown/taupe fabric for the 1" and a complementary green/turquiois for the border.
It's beautiful. Maybe a thin brown border with a green (or whatever color the fish background is) outer border.
I'd probably do 3 borders. One about 2",then a 1" (so it finishes at 1/2" in a color that makes it pop) and then another larger, maybe 4" border in the same color as the first.
I love it though! |
I love the triple irish chain - I would probably do a dark border using one of your dark pieces - it will look great.
nice im sure he will love it.
beautiful for sure. I always like borders but what ever you decide you'll love it.
sooo coolll...can you find fabric with fishing rods for the borders...or fishing line and hooks? here is a link with a bunch of fish, hooks, fishing fabrics....

Well done and I agree with you that borders would look great on this quilt.

Awesome quilt!! Yep, a border or two would be a wonderful finish :D:D:D
Very nice and I love the design. My DH would love this one.
It looks great! I would add a border to frame it.
It is beautiful! You sure have a jump on Christmas 2011. With or without the borders would be good. Just don't use the brown or cream as it will fade into the blocks.
Very nice! I love the way you used the fish fabric for the center part of the chain rather than a solid as is usually done.
I agree...it needs a border/borders. It is nice like it is but a border will just finish it off!!
What cute fabric. I love the Irish Chain pattern. I think I would put on a border. Just to frame it.
