Making this for my brother for Christmas 2011. I am working ahead. The 9 rows are not sewed together yet. I think that it needs borders. What do you think?

sewwhat85 02-03-2011 03:38 PM

how cute

Tussymussy 02-03-2011 03:38 PM

I think that a border would finish this off beautifully.

frugalfabrics 02-03-2011 03:38 PM

very nice...

Cyn 02-03-2011 03:38 PM

I like that fish fabric! Do you recall it's name or info at all? Beautiful quilt :)

Sapphire_Rae 02-03-2011 03:42 PM

Spectacular! I would add a border...maybe a thin stop, then border. Good job on being ahead for Christmas.

I agree!

Vanuatu Jill 02-03-2011 03:44 PM

Love it! I would put a 1" (finished size) border first to frame it, then maybe a 4" border to finish it. Maybe the brown/taupe fabric for the 1" and a complementary green/turquiois for the border.

Raggiemom 02-03-2011 03:49 PM

It's beautiful. Maybe a thin brown border with a green (or whatever color the fish background is) outer border.

Jennifer22206 02-03-2011 03:50 PM

I'd probably do 3 borders. One about 2",then a 1" (so it finishes at 1/2" in a color that makes it pop) and then another larger, maybe 4" border in the same color as the first.

I love it though!

I love the triple irish chain - I would probably do a dark border using one of your dark pieces - it will look great.

stacey65 02-03-2011 03:52 PM

nice im sure he will love it.

Lindsey 02-03-2011 03:53 PM

beautiful for sure. I always like borders but what ever you decide you'll love it.

carolaug 02-03-2011 03:55 PM

All I know is that it is cheap fabric from Walmart that I bought about 4 or 5 months ago. I know that my brother does not take the best care of things so I did not want to spend too much. I have only about $45 in the quilt top so far and it is 90" X 90" :)

MamaBear61 02-03-2011 04:19 PM

Well done and I agree with you that borders would look great on this quilt.

Vanuatu Jill 02-03-2011 04:22 PM

Joann's also has fishing fabric (I just bought a few for a quilt for my Uncle) by Debbie Mumm and it is 50% off now!!!

Awesome quilt!! Yep, a border or two would be a wonderful finish :D:D:D

sandraa 02-03-2011 06:11 PM

Very nice and I love the design. My DH would love this one.

NCquilter 02-03-2011 06:26 PM

It looks great! I would add a border to frame it.

franie 02-03-2011 06:33 PM

It is beautiful! You sure have a jump on Christmas 2011. With or without the borders would be good. Just don't use the brown or cream as it will fade into the blocks.

Boscobd 02-03-2011 07:38 PM

Very nice! I love the way you used the fish fabric for the center part of the chain rather than a solid as is usually done.

Kitsapquilter 02-03-2011 07:41 PM

I agree...it needs a border/borders. It is nice like it is but a border will just finish it off!!

littlehud 02-03-2011 09:36 PM

What cute fabric. I love the Irish Chain pattern. I think I would put on a border. Just to frame it.
