flannel baby kit - fmq - still practicing

On a little vacation in June my husband and I stopped at every quilt shop we could find along the way. One was closing out its fabric and going to keep only machines. All fabric was $3.99/yd and everything else was 60% off. Wish this had been on our way out, but it was our last stop on the way home! Got this baby quilt kit for $16 - made a 40X50 flannel quilt of the nicest flannel I've run across. I backed it with Walmart's "super flannel" which was on sale for $3/yd and for the first time ever pieced the batting from scraps I have.
THis goes to a baby girl who has 3 older brothers - an 11, an 8, and a 6. I'm thinking pink will be very welcome in that house! This felt like an FMQ sampler - I meandered in the large open area, loop-de-looped the carriage, echoed the blocks and other baby things and put hearts in the border. I still don't think I'd want to pay me to do this quilting, but it's certainly getting better. |
nicely done. What a sweet quilt.

Very pretty quilt for a little girl! Good job!

Walmart has some of their fleece on sale for $2/yd so each of the brothers is getting a fringed throw. I just took the pink one out of the dryer and I'm so relieved. I like to wash them before they leave me and am always relieved when they still look good. Silly me! The echo quilting looks really cute - the figures stand out from the background. This is so much fun!

You should be very proud of your FMQ. The quilt is lovely and it gives me hope I may be able to fmq one of these days. Your work is impressive. Thanks for sharing.
