Here are a couple of aprons I made for DIL and her mom and I gave them to them on Thanksgiving as a thank you for hosting our family's Thanksgiving. They both loved them.

those are just too cute!! I can't sew anything but quilts, but these look easy to do.. right? any hints on how large to cut that main body piece, ect? I want to try to make one, and see if it looks as good as yours does..

Lilrain 11-27-2010 10:36 AM

scrapykate 11-27-2010 10:37 AM

The front square is 23", the backing is 25-1/4". The bottom trim, which is the same color as the backing is (2) @2-1/2" X 26". The waist ties are (2) @ 3" x WOF. They really were very easy to make. The pattern is called "Four Corners Apron" by Vanilla House Designs. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Top is folded down about 4-1/2". I put the ties approx. 4" up from the corners after the contrast border was put on. Hope this helps.

Silly question...why is the back bigger that the front piece?

prezzy 12-02-2010 06:39 PM

tellabella, because you have the bottom trim that goes on the front piece.

sewTinker 12-02-2010 06:45 PM

ok. these are the cutest aprons I ever saw in my life. In my Life, I tell you! thanks for sharing the dimensions. :-D

deltadawn 12-02-2010 07:07 PM

Lovely

Ann L 12-02-2010 07:14 PM

How large a square do you think you would need to make a childs apron? I would like to make matching aprons for my GD and DIL. I think they would like that.

lpsewing 12-02-2010 07:56 PM

Amazing how two differant fabrics make the aprons so unique

Can you make these out of that vinyl stuff? I would like to make something like this for my daughters pre school class.

Yes, I've made several. The pattern is from Vanilla House

MamaQuilter 12-02-2011 07:49 AM

I love making that pattern. I made quite few a couple of years ago for my friends and family. They loved them :)

SandyinZ4 12-02-2011 07:53 AM

These look fun and funky. Would be a good use for fabric with a directional motif. Evidently folks still do wear aprons. :-)

Blinkokr 12-02-2011 07:57 AM

Those are really cute
Have a Blessed day

BarbM32 12-02-2011 08:02 AM

These aprons are super cute! Great fabric choices! Now I need to get busy making some myself! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

jhoward 12-02-2011 08:06 AM

I bought a kit with a free pattern for a similar apron. My friends and I made many of these. They were fun.

QuiltingJaguar 12-02-2011 08:22 AM

Oh these are just two cute. I sent the info and photo to my quilting group back in FL as I am on holiday in mountains of TN I am sure they will be sewing some of these up, thanks.

mommessy 12-02-2011 08:49 AM

Thanks for sharing! They are beautiful and look like fun to make. I already ordered the pattern!
