Love that folks can figure out ways to use Crown Royal bags!
Very nice.

CathieB 07-30-2012 08:51 AM

Forgive my ignorance, but what is Crown Royal?!!!

Colbaltjars62 07-30-2012 09:02 AM

Is alcohol wrapped in a Royal Purple bag. Very expensive and very smooth...

Greenheron 07-30-2012 09:14 AM

goodluna, that is a pretty quilt. The most appropriate Crown Royal quilt I have seen is a Drunkard's Path for sale on ebay. All I could think of was pink elephants draped with Crown Royal panniers.

callen 07-30-2012 11:24 AM

Beautiful quilt. Love the little sign.

VivianW 07-30-2012 06:16 PM

suedonnie 07-31-2012 03:24 AM

Beautiful!!! I have a friend that has been waiting 2 years for his quilt made out of crown royal bags and I have had no idea on how to make one. Would love to have this pattern if available. Great Job!

whinnytoo 07-31-2012 03:41 AM

that is a beauty for sure! GORGEOUS

#1piecemaker 07-31-2012 03:50 AM

Wow!! Wish I had a close up of this one. What pattern did you use? Its great!

jcrilley 07-31-2012 04:10 AM

Fantastic - lots of work but it paid off!!

Greenheron 07-31-2012 04:58 AM

The pattern appears to be a version of 54-40 or Fight. It's drafted on a Nine Patch base: The corners are four patches, the center a square, and the other four patches are squares divided into two rectangles and each rectangle divided into two long triangles. Clear as mud?:o

looking at the quilt it is easy to reverse engineer the pattern. basically you are right it is 4 patch blocks in the corners, a center square and the other blocks are 2 rectangles sewn together with long triangles sewn to the bottom corners of these rectangle units. the sashing has crown royal cornerstone blocks. the finished block size looks to be about 9". once you draw up templates for the triangle cuts and the rectangles, the rest should be pretty easy to cut. the 4 patch blocks can be made using strip piecing.

Crown Royal is a very expensive whiskey or bourbon.
