friendship knot quilt finished.......

Back in December, I posted this quilt looking for the name of this pattern since I'd never seen anything like it before....Leave it to the smartest folks around - I was told the name of this pattern is Friendship Knot. I figure that the quilt top is from the 1930s from the print. I finished this for a friend of my mom's. I also had to find a binding fabric. The 1980s dusty rose sheet on the back absolutely did not work! LOL!!

Thanks for looking!! And the quilt inspector on this quilt is LadyGrace :)

Very nicely done (even the dusty rose backing). LadyGrace obviously approves....she wouldn't just lie on any old thing you know:)

I love that pattern!! Gorgeous quilt!

The mother and daughter started the quilting and I finished it - Dusty rose isn't necessarily what I would have chosen, but it is what it is. The batting is an old flannel blanket, it's heavier than flannel sheets today.

Beautiful quilt, I love the rose color!
P.S. Is LadyGrace a Maine Coon? :-)

117becca 03-05-2012 06:12 PM

Yes on the Maine Coon...She is such a character and so animated!!

Very pretty! When I first saw it the picture I thought it was Whig's Defeat. It's similar to it.

That is absolutely beautiful. I am so happy for you that you had a hand in finishing it.

Beautiful quilt, how very sweet of you to finish it for your friend. The binding looks perfect! And you have an even more beautiful Lady Grace! I had a precious purr baby for 18 years that looked so much like her

What is my Gryphon doing on YOUR quilt? I swear: your cat looks exactly like mine.
This is a stunning quilt. I've never seen this pattern before. Thanks for posting the detail of the block, although I still don't think I'm getting it.

Delta 03-06-2012 06:00 AM

Wonderful quilt, I have not seen that pattern before. Love the kitty also.

I played with this on notebook paper and pen. Came up with two block variations--- one with straight lines; the other with the curves of the original.

Jillaine - my picture on page 2 shows the entire one block. The finished size of one block is 16 inches. Your picture on the right I would consider 1/4th of the original block. There is no seams in the center. That last sentence may make more sense if you go back and look at the picture.

Very pretty! You did a nice job on it! :)
