I bought these fabrics in January 2007, about one week into my quilting hobby, and just recently got a quilt made out of them. It was my first experience doing much with HSTs and I learned that I don't much care to work with them! Lesson learned ...

It turned out very nice. Congratulations for finishing it. Half Square triangles are something that get better with practice, I used them in my first quilt and struggled, now I have them down pretty good. :)

Very Pretty. Ok I must be weird, but I love the HST's..... Keep up the good work :P

I think it looks great.

Looks terrific! Good job. Now, do you know what you're going to work on next? Or do you need to recover for awhile?

sandpat 09-05-2008 03:18 PM

Well, even if you didn't like them, you did a great job with them. You might like it better with a little practice

Great job and beautiful quilt.

SaraSewing 09-05-2008 03:27 PM

Stunning! I have no idea how you kept it all organized to sew together. That boggles my mind. Any hints??

It's beautiful. I am learning I don't like the either.

I just love that quilt. Your choice of colors is very "Louisiana." It reminds me of the Mardi Gras season. The pattern is gorgeous. Wish I had the pattern.

A lovely job. I too have some trouble with those half squares, but there are so many wonderful blocks that have them..........I just keep at it.
As someone else said, they get better with practice. Don't give up. You may want to do another basket weave and give it to a loved one.

Have you ever tried the half-square method where you begin with 2 squares, right sides together, draw a line diagonally, stitch a quarter inch on each side of the line, cut on the line. You end up with 2 squares. It works so well. No stretching, etc. The square must be cut larger than the finished size.

love your quilt....you did a great job .....one tip I've learned to do is cut my block bigger and trim is down works like a charm for me...good luck....you'll get where half squares a easy someday and wonder why you didn't like them.....I was like that with flying geese...keep quilting we love see pictures...so thanks for sharing
