Gotthebug's little pine cone Quilt, guilted by Gramyx7

Nancy sent me this charming little quilt. She told me she had purchased the fabrics while vacationing in Montana. The
fabrics are beautiful.. As we were talking about quilting designs I mentioned pine cones, so .. the two outside borders I put in Pine cones. The Sashing has a vine with swirls, which I extended into the 3rd border row only in the fabric that is the same as the 2nd border. I did a squiggle line around the paw's, and on the back it almost makes them look scarey :) Also you will notice I left in a few threads.... :) oh well no ones perfect... The piecing and seams were absolutely perfect on this little quilt. we used Hobbs 80/20 batting. Thanks for Looking... |

What a pretty quilt. You did a great quilting job.
|
I love the squiggly quilting around the bear paw blocks. It really looks like bear tracks on the back of the quilt.
|
Are the pinecones freehand? If a stencil, where did you find it? The quilt is just beautiful and so is your quilting!
|
Actually I found these pine cones in a book. And I have quilted the pine cones several time's. What I do is trace them and trace them until I get it down. its almost like drawing little half moons some skinny and some a little fatter just make sure at the top or bottom that you turn up the ends of the little half moons to get the circle in. its actually very easy.
Thank you for the compliments and i want to thank everyone else.. I love the earth tone colors so this was a easy quilt for me to do... :) Plus the piecing was great.. seams were all correct.. it was a breeze...
