Just completed the third one today and thought I'd share the photos so bear with me as it will take time for me to get them loaded in. I love making them and wearing them as they are so comfortable.
Patty This is my first one and I ordered the sweatshirt and fabrics plus pattern from http://nancysnotions.com. As you can see, I opted to keep the neck ribbing, cuffs, and bottom ribbing on all 3 of my sweatshirts. Personal preference things. The 2nd one is my blue one that I run around in for every day here during our cooler months. Made this as a quilt chapter project last fall. Ordered all 3 of the sweatshirts from Nancy's Notions as they are hard to find in FL. The 3rd one is a gift I made for a friend and she chose black and white and I just finished it today and will be sending it off tomorrow. quilt as you go |

Great jackets, all of them. The workmanship looks fabulous.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I've enjoyed making each one of them and learn something new each time. The photos are good but truly don't do them just but I do agree, the black and white one is really pretty. All of them are though but the black and white one is amazingly sharp.
Took apart another sweatshirt tonight so I can make one for my granddaughter and want to get it finished so we can take it to her when we go to see her the end of the month. Patty |

Hi Carol,
Try doing a search for quilted sweatshirts and sweatshirts to see what's on this board. Recently "uglycook" put up a pdf tutorial on how to do a gorgeous patchwork quilted sweatshirt and I want to make one of these this fall if possible - for myself. Also scroll up through the pictures as I did include the information on where to order the pattern for the burgandy one at nancy's notions.com. You can also go to her website and search for sweatshirts or quilted sweatshirts as she has many patterns available. The stripped one I got from my quilt chapter when we did it as a group project. There are many quilt sweatshirt patterns available. You can purchase your own fabrics or buy the jelly rolls or honey buns to use as well. The Burgundy one use a jelly roll packet. The other two I purchased 5 fabrics and used. You mix around until you find 5 fabrics you'd like to see together. I'll see if I can find the link for the patchwor tutorial and include here but it as just posted in the last 24 hours. Patty

This is the link to the tutorial. Didn't spot the one where she has a link to her pdf file. guess I didn't keep it but you can bookmark this file and go back to it when you want to use it. Patty |
Great idea and we do need a sweatshirt jacket in Fl. The stores, restaurants, etc. are always so cold. I found some swearshirt jackets in Sears that have snap fronts and no ribbing that might be good to use.
|
Great job on all three!! What a wonderful friend. I am sure she will love it. I sure do. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
|
Nice! :)
|
Beautiful!
|
Thanks so much for sharing beautiful shirts. Always enjoy seeing such talent.

I'm on my regular computer and have the pdf file from uglycook so hopefully it will attach here for you to download the file. Her patchwork sweatshirts are the most beautiful I've ever seen. Thank you uglycook if your watching this thread.
Patty Hopefully if you click where it says download, the file will download for you and when you want to use it, you can print it out and have it step by step. |
Those are all so pretty. I would love them here in the winter. Great job on all and thanks for sharing.
|
Your work really looks great. I love the colors you used, but I am partial the to black.

Thank you everyone. Andrea received her sweatshirt (the black and white one) yesterday exactly one month after her birthday to the day, sent me a photo and it fits her really beautifully and looks good on her. Yeah! I was concerned about fitting her but with her help, made it. She loved it and I think/hope she'll enjoy wearing it. With fall right around the corner in Indiana she'll soon be able to get some use out of it, that's for sure. We are going to IL and leave FL Aug. 23rd and I'm taking one with me as last year I really needed it as the evenings got cool for me since I'm 100 % Floridian now.
Hopefully some of you will brave making a sweatshirt. Patterns can be found at JoAnn's, probably quilt shops, and Nancy's Notions and other websites have several patterns to choose fun. Hopefully by Monday I'll have my granddaugthers completed and will post it so keep your eyes open for the new post which hopefully will be Monday or Tues. I still have one front to do, the sleeves and then attach the neck and bottom ribbing and it'll be finished. Hugs Patty |
They are all beautiful!

Blessings, Ruth Some of my friends though don't like theirs as they fully quilted the sleeves (we live in central FL). Our rec centers are heavily air conditioned and I like to wear them there but several of the ladies commented that they were over heating in theirs and that the sleeves were too heavy and warm. You'll notice that I only did a little quilting on my sleeves and left the majority of the sleeve natural sweatshirt so it would breathe and I'm so glad I did them that way. If you live in the north, the quilted sleeves may be just fine. Just thought I'd mention that. |
