Hankie Quilts

My sister has collected Hankies for about thirty years. She asked if I make two twin quilts for her guest room. This is what I was able to come up with.

One of the best hanky quilts I've seen. Did you back the hankies with anything?

absolutely lovely. She must be so pleased.

Yes, I backed them with muslin. Thank you.

I agree that is a lovely hankie quilt. I love it too. Can you share how you did it? Are they just folded?

Very pleased, thank you/

They are cut, and placed on a square of muslin. Stitched in place. At first she wanted them left whole, but then thought they were to boring so we decided to cut them. Thank you.

I love this, what a good idea. I have so many of my Mom's hankies in a box. Did you use a stabilizer on them or just the muslin? So many of mine seem fragile, or have a lace edge.

I just used muslin. I don't know why you couldn't stablize them with a fusible, that would be permanent. But the way I did it would be permanent also.
