Hibiscus Applique
3 Attachment(s)
Just finished my 2 fabric applique all but the binding. I like the way it turned out but I will never be a threat to the FMQS on the board. Just trying to learn and it is PIT-I-FUL!!!!!!

I wish I was brave. I like needle turn and I love Pacific Rim---I even have material and patterns. Just haven't gotten up enough nerve. You have done a beautiful job. I never thought of FMQing the background. I love it!!!
|
beautiful I love the colors you chose
|
It's beautiful! I've not tried hand applique because of arthritis in my hands but I may have to try it so I can have this kind of fabulous product!

Your quilt is beautiful. Your quilting makes your flower pop. Give yourself some slack. We learn a little at a time. I just meandered for years. Then I took a deep breath and started doing more designs. The trick is to practice them on paper first. you can even take plastic and put it over a design and draw and redraw it with an erasable marker. There are great DVD's out there and also craftsy.com quilting classes along with other sites if you cannot get to or don't have a local quilting shop. What ever path you chose, keep in mind, it is one step at a time.
Also remember people look at your quilt as a whole. And the overall effect of your quilt is just wonderful. It doesn't have to have any more advanced quilting to be beautiful |
We each have our talents, and for sure one of yours is applique!! Practice gave you such talent, and I'm sure that your FMQ will improve as well. I shudder to think what my own first attempts looked like :(
|
it is absolutely gorgeous and you would give lots of gals here, me included, a run for her (his) money!
|
Very nice job and gorgeous fabric. Don't you love doing Pacific Rim Patterns? Send in a photo for their gallery. My orange hibiscus piece is there.

Love the hibiscus and fabric! Your fmq will improve with time and PRACTICE! lol I keep practicing and have found, so far, that feathers, of all things, seem to be easier for me than stippling! Go figure. BUT, I haven't gotten brave enough to actually put any feathers on a finished quilt yet. lol Very soon!
