:-D :-D :-D :-D I'm planning to make a wall hanging out of these hollow cubes that I made. I didn't have enough of the fish fabric so what I was thinking was to toss in a few of the regular hollow cubes some thing like the biege one below it. Just have to see if I have any thing that will blend with the fish cubes. Also I thought of framing each block in dark blue fabric, but these are big enough. I kind of like them the eay they are. Any ideas are welcome. Huggies, Fay.....Love making these and it would be cute for a baby quilt with letters on them like the toy building blocks.

Since those are tropical fish, could you find a diver or maybe a treasure chest like people keep in their fish tanks?

That is super cool. Totally looks like the fish are swimming in and out of the cubes.
But...I don't think the plain extra block works. Its too bland in comparison to the others. Why not just do some in the same or similar colorways but use water like fabric in the centers (since you're out of the fish fabric). That would keep it bright and cheerful and under watery looking. |

I love the fish cubes...however, I don't think the beige block works. It is to plain compared to the rest of your blocks.
Maybe if you could find some dyed fabric with different blues for the inside of the block so it looks more like water. Have you sewn these blocks together yet? If not you could space some plain blues between the fish blocks. If you could find ANY fish fabric you could cut and applique fish on some of the dyed fabric and still leave some plain. |
Thanks, that's a good idea. I do have some light blue fabric that looks under waterish,, I may have to dig out my embroidery machine, but I can't see the dern threads... Grrr.. Old bag eyes aren't what they used to be any more. I've got black fish fabric and I have some colorful fish that Mom had put wonder under on so maybe I can applique' some fish on some sort of fabric. I'll have to look for some thing that might work. Thanks again. Huggies, Fay

I was at a LQS today and they had fabric that looked like the caves that you put in an aquarium and it had fish faces and eyes peering out of the openings. It was really cute!!
