"Hope's Rose Garden" - Quilt

2 Attachment(s)
I am going to try and get a picture of her quilt posted. I started on this quilt Feb. 15, 2012 and just finished it today 6-21-12. It is a king size. Hope is a dear friend, 92 years old and will be the Grand Marshall in our annual "West of the Pecos Rodeo Parade" next week. She is from a pioneer ranching family in our county here in Pecos, Tx.. Pecos is listed as Home of the World's First Rodeo. I am going to deliver her quilt tomorrow.
I fussy cut, then machine appliqued each rose on the front. The front is cream colored. The backing is made from two pima cotton sea foam green sheets, that she chose. The quilt is reversible and I do hate hand work, but it is necessary when doing a reversible quilt, there is roughly 269 feet of hand work on this quilt.
I do hope I can get a picture of this quilt posted. Wish me luck, Well it looks like both pictures are going to post. The first picture is the back of the quilt. Thanks for gazing at my some of my work.Gerbie

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments. I am just glad it is finally finished. DH said he liked the back best, too many roses on the front. lol. But then his favorite color is green too. The reason each side looks like I used two different colors of the same fabric, is because of the way I quilted it and turned the blocks, that gives the blocks a different color effect. I 'm sorry I didn't get a close up of some of the blocks. The quilting is very simple straight line, I didn't want to take away from the pattern, this is my own design, simple as it is. I am not great at free motion quilting. I did all of the quilt on my Bernina 930. Wishing everyone a great weekend, and thanks for looking.

Yes you see some yellow roses of Tx. She specified that she would like to have some yellow roses in the quilt if I could add some. She is quite a lady and mentally sharp and physically pretty spry for her age. She is still driving alone I might add, to the grocery store, Wal Mart and post office. I love the idea of the queen wave, I will definitely tell her today, she will get a real charge out of that comment. Thanks for the compliment.
