How do you feel about strings?

I admit that I am not a scrappy person, controlled scrappies I love but can't get myself to do total scrappies. Of course I can't say scrappy quilts and not think of Bonnie Hunter lol. I did her mystery quilts the last two years and love love the controlled scrappies I made. Her before last mystery quilt was Orca Bay and it contained string blocks that are of a particular color family- well, I love that concept, as I can get the movement of the stringy blocks without killing myself (type A personality here lol )going totally scrappy. I had made some extra string units for that quilt and pulled them out some time ago to use them to make wonky stars. A great leaders and enders project! I used all of my red strings to make this 23'' little quilt- love how it turned out and I am calling it Bonnie's Stars:o I have a bag full of leftover green string units that I need to think of a design to use them in next. So how do you feel about strings? Love 'em? Hate 'em? Indifferent?

I LOVE your stars!! And the use of strings is mind-boggling! You're a genius!! How about making one similar to the stars with the greens, but use trees instead of stars.

You asked how we feel about strings. I can't handle the scrappy thing so haven't tackled the string thing. Just sorting scraps makes me itch.

I like string quilts because they are so unique! I LOVE the way your quilt turned out. Very nice job!

Your quilt looks great. I like the idea of string blocks/quilts as it's a great way to use up leftover and odd pieces of fabric. As Bonnie Hunter says, the scraps cost as much as regular yardage. Why throw it away??? (that's a paraphrase, of course) - - - - Jane
