I've been working at my job so hard lately, and when I'm not doing that I'm cleaning and doing laundry! This weekend I rebelled! Saturday I finished up my black and white blocks, and today I made this table runner from start to finish! It's from Moda Bake Shop using a pack of charm squares, and it went together easily!

That's pretty!
Now, don't you feel better sewing than cleaning?
My saying is.....the cleaning will ALWAYS be there when I'm done sewing. Sewing is more important because it relieves stress and trying to keep a neat and tidy house is stressful. So....sew, sew and sew some more to relieve ALL that stress!!!

Good for you! Sometime you just have to put the important things first! Great runner.

Shemjo 05-03-2009 07:05 PM

Glad you did the important stuff. The other will always be there! Nice runner!

So pretty. Don't call it rebellion, call it therapy. Great job.

It sounds to me that you have your priorities straight and are probably a very well-rounded personality ...
Very fun table runner!
Thanks for sharing!

Awesome runner!!! Congrats on the rebellion!! Hmmmm a sewing strike...why haven't I thought of that? I think you may be on to something here!!

Love your table runner. As a matter of fact, I saw it and had planned on making it but I forgot the website. Do you still have the website handy?
I love the fabrics that you used for yours. Great job.

Harmony its nice to have a little me time and just enjoy those days off and do something you enjoy. Housework would not be one of those things   ...lol. You did a beautiful job.

Izy 05-03-2009 09:52 PM

Quilt4u 05-04-2009 01:40 AM

Very nice.

Chele 05-04-2009 01:43 AM

Your weekend produced wonderful results! I only do laundry when I need to wash a quilt! Disposable clothes would be so cool.

k3n 05-04-2009 01:45 AM

Harmony, a MUCH more productive weekend than boring old housework! I love it! ( Wildflower Serenade? I've got an apple core wallhinging from that charm pack that hangs over our bed!)

Nice job

Sharon M 05-04-2009 04:04 AM

I love your table runner and just think it will help hide the dust
Just think a hundred years from now your table runner will probably still be around for people to admire and they won't know if your house was dirty or not and won't care. :D

sandpat 05-04-2009 04:57 AM

Great idea Harmony! You didn't blow your weekend...you invested your time wisely  Afterall...the house will just get dirty ...again...., but the table runner will always be finished!

sewjoyce 05-04-2009 05:20 AM

I don't think you blew your weekend either -- you were just keeping your sanity! There is always house cleaning to do -- and if you do it this week, everyone expects you to clean next week too and on and on and on

Beautiful table runner. You should take time for yourself for often!

Bevanger 05-04-2009 07:00 AM

So glad you had a fun sewing day. It is almost as good as spa day, don't you think?

Mousie 05-04-2009 04:30 PM

hey, this could be like burning our bras!!!
We could all take a day off....hmmm, now where'd I put those clothes pins....gonna need to keep stuff out of the sewing machine...teeheeheee!!!
hubby says I should go ahead and run over one of them, or both even, while making him a pillowcase...hey, that's letting our day off become about them again....he's clever....but i'm cleverer, LOL!!!

I like your table runner, lol! :D

zyxquilts 05-04-2009 05:57 PM

Sounds like a great stress-release weekend to me Harmony!! Way to go - the runner is great :D:D:D

Aileen 05-05-2009 02:05 PM

LOL I am going to show all the comments that you ladies made to justify not doing the housework so you could sew! I figure if it is ok with so many of you then he should be happy with me.

butterflywing 05-05-2009 03:59 PM

no one will sneak in and do your laundry when your back is turned. it will still be there when you look for it. unless, of course, you know someone who will? if so, never turn around.

also, is laundry the thing you want to be remembered for? if you want to be remembered for laundry, i'll send you mine. hhmmmm.....how can i send you dustbunnies? cat hair? dirty dishes? the list grows......

i begin to see real promise in this. you'll never need to feel guilty again. i'll have your back
