Just a table runner I made, (My first one) How would you quilt it?

I would do stitch in the ditch and continue the lines from the pieced blocks through the plain square so you would have a +++ pattern. I would also stitch parallel line in the corners whatever the distance is from the squares? (If they are 2" squares go down 2" and stitch across the corner.) Hope that makes sense!

I would start with SITD. If you can FMQ I would then do vine/leaf wreaths in the large areas.

for the green and yellow triangles i'd quilt 1/4 or 1/2 inch lines following the inside edges of the triangles. not sure on the pieced blks.
sort of like this pic |
The above ideas are great!!!!! You did a wonderful job!!!

I also think the mentioned ideas are good ones. That's such a sunny, happy runner.

Don't have any ideas but really like your runner! Pretty color choices.

I would SID around everything. Then in the yellow squares I would quilt a daisy. The large triangles I would do a meandering stipple with a leaf every now & then.

You've gotten some good ideas, but if you are not comfortable with free-motion quilting, or want a more modern feel, try parallel straight lines the length of your runner. I recently finished this quilt for a customer and I love how it turned out. She asked for the lines to be 1/2" apart, but you wouldn't need to do them that closely. I'd probably do them so they're bisecting each of the little squares in the four-patches - it looks like you'd need about 11 lines?
Whatever you decide, it's going to be adorable - I love the bright spring colors! Andi |
