Hi

Just wanted to show you a couple of photos of my new sewing table. Hubby modified a dining table and made a well for my Horizon to sit in and he made an insert to fit around it. It was a bit scary cutting a hole in a perfectly good table...lol. But he's done an excellent job and it's soooo much more comfortable and hopefully will help stop the twinges I was feeling in my shoulders.

Because of lack of space, the table was too deep so he's cut a length off right along the back to make the table a bit narrower. But he's attached it as a flap that hangs down at the back of the table and if I need to have extra space for a big quilt, I can pull the table out and raise the flap just for that job.. best of both worlds, I think :-D

I am really blessed :D

What a wonderful job he did and you have my dream machine! I am still working with my 6500 but I saw the Horizon at a show recently and fell in love. Now to find a job so that maybe I can get one for myself. Janome's are sure nice machines.

I'm jealous, my machine sits on top of a table and it is a bit too high. He did a great job, yes you truely are blessed. Enjoy it.

sewingladydi 11-15-2010 05:45 PM

annieshane 11-15-2010 06:44 PM

OMG, I would think I had died and gone to heaven if I had such a beautiful table on which to sew...and my machine set in like yours. Your husband is a talented, talented man. Keep him under lock and key because we will all be after him if you let him out. I am so happy for your beautiful machine and table! Do show us more of your beautiful work.

DEJAHG 11-15-2010 06:48 PM

What a guy! Congrats to you both...that rocks!

leaha 11-15-2010 06:53 PM

oh lovely! great job!

ShirlinAZ 11-15-2010 07:01 PM

He did a great job. But for those who wish they had someone to do that for them -- Do it yourself! I find woodworking is a lot like quilting. If you can handle a rotary cutter you can handle a saw! The task is the same, just the materials are different. I also find woodworking and quilting equally satisfying.

Dollysquiltingmom 11-15-2010 07:03 PM

What a wonderful DH. Great job.

midwestqltr 11-15-2010 07:32 PM

Your husband did a great job. That table is just like the one my (this) computer is sitting on in my sewing room. Yes, you are brave to cut it. Hmmm . . . . my brother can do the same thing. I like the hinge idea.

miss_ticky2 11-15-2010 07:50 PM

Thank you everyone...and yes, I definitely intend to keep him :D

I have been sewing at this table today and it is sooo comfortable. No aches in the shoulders yet and it's such a pleasure to sit there and so much easier to work at. It's the best sewing station I have ever had after all these years :)

pittsburgpam 11-15-2010 08:10 PM

I want one!!! :-D That is great and it must be very nice to sew on.

tuesy 11-15-2010 08:21 PM

AWESOME!!! My Step Dad did the same thing for me a couple of years ago out of our old dining room table. It does help the shoulders/arms and you also have more room to let the quilt puddle on to the left side!

Roberta 11-16-2010 05:57 AM

Can I borrow your DH for awhile? I swear I'm give him back but he's a genius to have come up with this idea.

LindaR 11-16-2010 06:07 AM

hes a talented guy...WOW...

BMP 11-16-2010 06:28 AM

Thats one great looking table, how clever and you recycled something too...

Annz 11-16-2010 04:45 PM

Wow. I'm impressed. The table is great and the versatility goes without saying. What a great job he did.
