Just a few weeks late. :) Better late than never though, right?

I bought a yard of the map fabric last spring but had zero clue what to do with it. Looking back I probably should have just used it as backing but too late now. It had Civil War battle maps, Confederate money and flags on it. I cut out each and appliqued them onto the empty blocks in this quilt.

Oh it's lovely. You have given me a great idea for my brother in law! He loves civil war stuff. Goes to all the battlefields etc. Maybe not a full quilt but a throw? Do guys like throws?

I love your fabric choices, they look wonderful together in that pattern! I am always amazed when I see a quilt with so many fabrics that work so well together. The thought of that intimidates me. ;)

Breaking up this quilt with the maps and memorabilia in the plain blocks is a wonderful idea. It gives this quilt a story to tell..Great for a man's quilt..good job!

It was more work but a very effective way to use the Civil War fabric. It makes the quilt much more dramatic and tells a story. Hope your hubby enjoys it.

That is an awesome quilt. Do you remember who made the fabric. Am married to a Civil war reader. (the only big vacation we had was to Gettysburg) Would love to make him one using this fabric.

Here's a link to the fabric, though this isn't where I purchased mine. If you do a search in Google a lot will come up. http://www.redroosterquilts.com/shop...ivil-war-maps/
