Back in the early 80s I dabbled with making a quilt top out of hexes. I had so much trouble with machine sewing all the pieces together that I put it away. Of course now I find out why. The finished pieces all have 1/8" seams.

Anyway, here's what they look like...

LOL I too wish that I knew then, what I know now  :D:D:D

LOL, it's funny what we live and learn. One lady in the guild that my sisters are in made her first quilt ever---Flower Garden using 2 1/2" hexes, king size, machine sewn, out of polyester double knit!!! I'm surprized she ever made anything else!

Oh, make a doll quillt, or mini wallhanging out of these, and keep them as a nostalgic reminder of When. I think they would be adorable.

Awww that is so cute!! For the sake of nostalgia I hope you do something with it. Thanks for sharing :D

My MIL died 4yrs ago and whilst clearing her flat we found a hexagon quilt top she had made from my SIL dresses etc. No one knew she had ever made it! I rescued it completed it and gave it to my SIL! Rather than quilt it I tied it with old buttons from MIL hoard. It now has pride of place in her spare bedroom on the bed with her childhood teddies!!(She is 60yrs old!!)

Interesting what we find going through older parts of stash! I have a few of those - what did I know about quilting then? - items. Are you going to finish as a miniature?

Funny, but just this past weekend I ran across some flower garden blocks that I started (probably in the early 80's) and abandoned. I put them right back, but they might see the light of day after all. You've given me some good ideas. I like the suggestion of a 'mini' cuz I don't want to sew any more of those hand-cut hexes together again. Had never heard of a rotary cutter then so some of them might have been a little wonky. LOL.

Well, I will definitely figure something out as I don't want the rest of the hex pieces to go to waste. A mini sounds like the ticket. I must finish the crochet valance I'm working on before I move on to another project.
