Ok, now that I was able to make a clothesline purse, it is too 'young looking' for me. :(

I won't be making any more anytime too soon I will tell you that.

It has a magnet for the closure

That is really cool! I'll have to add that to my verrrry long list

gaigai 10-17-2009 01:27 PM

ss, I think it looks great! And you are NEVER too old for a great looking purse. Because of the colors I would use it in the spring & summer, but you could make interchangeable flowers and use it all year long!

Good job!

Sheila Elaine 10-17-2009 03:12 PM

I would just take the flowers off altogether & leave it as is.

ladybugquilter 10-17-2009 03:26 PM

Great job!!!! I think you did good, I do agree that the flowers are what makes it look young

3incollege 10-17-2009 03:42 PM

That is great! I tried to make one , and it was a mess. I thought is was so hard to get the needle through the clothesline.

sewnsewer2 10-17-2009 03:48 PM

Thanks. It looks too plain without the flowers.

I used cotton clothes line and it is still too stiff for me.

sharon b 10-17-2009 06:39 PM

I agree you are never too old for a GREAT looking purse ! Use it and be proud

joeyoz 10-17-2009 08:58 PM

o you mean it's too young looking for you? I love it!!!

wvdek 10-17-2009 09:18 PM

That looks great. Do you have to sew by hand or can you use machine?
I agree, take off the flowers, add a sash tied in a knot, and carry off to your next LQS spree.

Barb M 10-17-2009 09:20 PM

Oh i love it!!! :)

crkathleen 10-17-2009 09:21 PM

I think it's cute as it can be! Where can a girl get a pattern? haha
Thanks

earthwalker 10-17-2009 11:54 PM

Never to old.....I think it's great....maybe you would be more comfortable without the flowers....wvdek's idea of a sash tied on is great...maybe a silk scarf or something...anyway, I would use it and I'm galloping toward 50 at a great rate.

ranger 10-18-2009 02:59 AM

I think it's a great looking purse. And very unusual.

Bevanger 10-18-2009 04:15 AM

too old ?????????? no way. your never too old for fun purses/totes. i love it. i thinks its awesome

craftiladi 10-18-2009 04:36 AM

I have never seen a clothes line purse you did a wonderful job but you are right not something I would be making alot of. My daughter has requested a purse of some sort under the christmas tree-so far all the patterns I have come across I don't care for and to make it harder I have some hard plastic handles I want to use for making her purse.
Great job.

Chele 10-18-2009 05:02 AM

Spectacular! I know the work that went into that beauty. My purse ended up being a 4" wide bowl! :D

sewjoyce 10-18-2009 06:43 AM

That is so cute!!! What do you mean -- it's too "young" for you?? Looks perfect for any age! :D

amma 10-18-2009 06:46 AM

Very Pretty!!! I love the additional flower embellishments :D :D :D

Humm, didn't think of that, good idea. Yes it is all done by machine with a zig zag stitch. You have to cut 1/2 wide strips and wind them around the clothesline (very time consuming).

Here's some instructions.

Yeah it's easier to make a round one than the oval.

Quilt4u 10-18-2009 11:02 AM

I love it.

Karo 10-19-2009 05:49 PM

HEY THERE.....WE LADIES NEVER GET TOO OLD FOR SOMETHING BRIGHT AND PRETTY ---AND THAT BAG IS REALLY PRETTY AND BRIGHT.....SEND IT MY WAY IF YOU WANT TO GET REID OF IT (lol) GOOD WORK !

RedGarnet222 10-19-2009 06:21 PM

Great Job. sewnsewer! I love it. The suggestion for the black sash bow is perfect if you are feeling it is too young for you with the flowers. The girls at the local quilt store are going to be so jelous you changed it for the better.

littlehud 10-19-2009 06:23 PM

That is so cute. Great job.

fluffbug95 10-19-2009 06:25 PM

I love it! I love the colors too! :)

Grama Lehr 10-20-2009 07:00 AM

What do you mean it's too young looking? It's absolutly perfect! I bet if you took it to the senior center, the ladies would beg you to make one for them! It's beautiful and you did a wonderful job! Did it take very long?

bearisgray 10-20-2009 07:05 AM

It's pretty.

Just wondering - did it end up being kind of heavy to lug around?

I've gotten very weight conscious of purses - touchy shoulder and back.

No not too heavy, but it is stiff.

marla 10-20-2009 08:11 AM

Did you do this with cording and wrapping it with torn strips? I did one as a basket but like this idea. Very cute!

amandasgramma 10-20-2009 08:17 AM

I like it!! i don't think it's too "young" for ANYBODY! I picture it as a great take-along yarn bag when you crochet or knit.

Mousie 10-20-2009 08:20 AM

you did a good job on that, even if you don't want to use it yourself. Somebody will enjoy it.
Was it hard to make?

wvdek 10-20-2009 08:21 AM

I went to You Tube and typed in rope purse. Found a nice tut on making one that is lighter-made with cotton batting and folding the fabric over that then sewing. I'll see if I can find the link again. Forgot to do that last night.

sawsan 10-20-2009 08:23 AM

OMG .............VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY NICE

COLORS IS PERFECT

sylslight 10-20-2009 08:40 AM

Unfortunately, i woul dnever be able to use something like that- all my bags HAVE to have pockets in them. thats just how it is and I dont see how you could attach any to that bag and make it look right. Oh Well!!! Fantasic Job!!!!

Thanks, no it didn't take long. I worked on it for 2 days.

Me too but you could always make a lining for it.

Shemjo 10-20-2009 12:17 PM

Cute purse! I think a lining with pockets would make it much more usable! And then you could use colors more to your liking! I like th flowers!

sewnsewer2 10-20-2009 02:49 PM

Yeah, when I make my purses, I always put a back wall zipper and front inside pockets in them. Sometimes outside opckets too.

pal 10-22-2009 05:11 PM

Great Job, Sewnsewer!!!!! and your fabric is wonderful!

I'd use it as a tote for hand work - like for dr. & dentist appts where you have to sit and wait for hours. It's beautiful - and everyone will want to know where you got it!!!!!
