I took free motion quilting class awhile back and did a few small projects. This week I finally got up the courage to try it on this quilt for "Quilts for Kids. (first two photos) It's not a prize winning job but I'm proud of it anyway.

Now I have this next one to do. I did this embroidery to keep my hands busy in the evenings and made it into this quilt. I've stitched around the edges of the white blocks. Now I'm ready to quilt it but not sure where to go from here. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Great job. It takes practice, practice, practice and those charity quilts are a great place to practice!!!

you could trace a leaf shape in the green blocks & quilt them for a start. How big are the embroidery blocks? Some that I've done I used one of the colours from the block & tied it in a couple places & have the embroidery thread ties showing on the back so it doesn't interfere with the picture.

Your quilts are lovely! Some kid is gonna love the frog fabric
Your second quilt is wonderful :-D My first thought is to stitch an X in the squares. Possible meandering the rest and stitch in the ditch for around your hand work.
really beautiful work :!:

My free motion quilting did better when I bought an extension table from www.cluttergutter.com. Let me tell you this lady has my thumbs up! I got the table in 1 week and when i compared the price she beat everybody. And it is a girl who makes them! She helped me over the phone about the kind of needles to use and talked about sewing machine tension.
I love this new group. All of you have helped me so much. Glad i finally joined.

GREAT job! You did so well for the first time. I'm going to FMQ my Quilt for Kids quilt too (for the first time).
