I am waiting to get a walking foot to finish my quilts, in the mean-time, I am practicing, practicing and practicing some more. Lord knows I need to... So, I just wanted to share with you the picture of this semi-finished table top piece/runner I just made for my daughter.

Let me know what you think.

I have had a hard time with it. It was giving me fits not coming out square! That is the part I am trying so hard to get down now... it's hard to get it squared/even.

I know what you mean about squaring off the quilt. I have done that also but the only one that really notices that is you. We are so hard on ourselves. A friend told me "There is no such thing as a perfect quilt."

I think you are right many of the new quilters I know have to learn to have fun and not worry so much about perfection.Points don't always match and things aren't always square but if we do the best we can and enjoy it what more could we want?

hello block is pretty I have a tip for you when making half sq triangles use a mechical pencil. I don't know what ruler you are using to mark your blocks I us the ruler that has a slit in the center it is made for the hst. you just put the ruler from corner you an mark on both sides of the ruler very easy. then just sew each side a needles width to the right of the pencil line slide the block around to the other side do the same thing then you cut do the center and have two half sq triangles

rockie8903 02-10-2011 04:27 PM

Hi... in reply to your suggestion, I am using the strip method sewn together giving the "tube" method for the whole triangle block.
I hope this link works - check it out for yourself :-)

You've heard it said, 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.' I'm living that one out too. Beautiful work.
