I love the way it looks - I agree with Maia B, use a variegated to quilt on the black.

Continue putting it together. IMHO, boarders and quilting will 'soften' the brightness. I personally like 'bright' quilts ;)

I also like the blocks as you have them, and like the above suggestion to use variegated thread.
