I am doing the attached photo quilt for my granddaughter's graduation in May. These are the colors of her choice. I just cannot figure out what to do for the sashing! Please, can you assist me! On the attached photos, the bottom left is the fabric for the backing, it is a black and white print. The other 3 are the ones used in the quilt! "HELP!!!!"
Do you have enough fabric to do a medium border of the backing, then a narrow one of the black, then a wider one of the purple, followed by black binding?
I am a relative newbie, but I think that there is so much going on here, you really don't need much more. Unless you want a larger size quilt than you have now, I would say just add a modest purple border, then bind with the black.
Isn't sashing the fabric between the pictures, i.e., your black print? Or are you asking what kind of quilting to do on the sashing?
Depends on how wide you want the border .I would do purple then black binding.I am not a floral person.
I do love your quilt,I am sure your granddaughter will love it. |
what a wonderful quilt. I think that a purple border finished with the black binding would really make it all pop. I am sure that what ever you decide on will be great and oh boy will she just love the recieve it

I like the idea of a triple border, purple, white, black and bind with either purple or white. Really depends on the yardage you have left.

actually the way you have it is good. purple border, white or black binding.

I like the purple border; it just seems to make it all come together and really pop. This is a gorgeous quilt and your GD should find this a treasure. Great job. Thank you for sharing.

The dark purple border looks nice and the black to finish off with the binding. If you are going larger, then you may want to consider isnthatodd's suggestion. BTW its a stunning quilt!
I think a nice purple border will pull it all together and then use the black for the binding.
what an awesome gift!! i say keep the border simple if possible.
WOW what an awsome gift!! Love the darker purple

I agree with Leslie. What a wonderful treasure!!
i think that you should use the black and white (backing) for the border (if you have enough) and then use the black for the binding...can't wait to see the finished project ...
I would use the purple for the border and bind it with the black
I agree with the purple border and then black binding. She is going to treasure this quilt forever! It's just wonderful and will be so full of memories for her.

Your quilt is beautiful! |
I would have to go with a simple border..and although the purple is gorgeous--I would choose a different color to balance the whole quilt.
I like it just the way you have it and with the purple as the border.
It looks beautiful the way it is, maybe a border. :-)
