Due to the goodness of hearts, I ended up with LOTS of I spy fabric, enough for 2-3 lap robes. I've been busy cutting squares and in another day or 2, will be able to start deciding how to arrange them; this is the hardest part for me. Do it by color? or design? random? BTW, I do have a top on my head; DH just cuts it off all the time! lol

I did it several ways, one was put them in a bag and what I pulled out is what went next, a pattern and I also did by color background, so it's up to you.

This could be the dumbest question of the day..........but what exactly is an I Spy quilt? I see that term all over this board and I'm lost......lemme guess, the answer is going to be right under my nose, right????

Sorta anyhow it is the game I -spy made into a quilt. Just use fabrics with stuff on them like a deer and lemons etc. turn it into a quilt

I-Spy is a game we all played, especially in the car..I -spy a red car..then the other kid would look for it? It is a great little quilt for kids to search for the item you call out.it is a learning tool..and slot of fun!
i like them with a sashing seperating them, but can be done in all kinds of ways. I was in a swap were everyone signed up for a letter,A/B and so on..then you only bought that fabric that represented that letter..Z-Zebras..all the letters were covered..
26 people, 26 different fabrics back..
here is one of mine..

here is a silly question, what is a lap robe?
-
Cande, those are lovely! I just do it randomly. They have always come out nice. Kids love them!
-
I dont know what a lap robe is either. =/

I don't know what other people call them; I don't even remember where I came up with the term but it's to throw over your lap during these cool nights when you need a little warmth. Ususally is long enough to come up just over your waist and then a little past your toes. Wide enough to cover you with a couple of inches left over. Most of mine are about 41"X55" except the one I made my hubby is a little longer because he's quite tall. When not in use, we just fold them and lay over the back of our recliners.

Kim, what size are your blocks? I like that effect, with the sashing in between each.
