This is one for the local Humane Society.. anyone have ideas for quilting the background. Nothing too hard because I'm not real good at FMQ yet.

One for Dogs and one for Cats

sounds like a good time to practice anything you'd like to get better at

Look at Leah's website www.daystyledesigns.com - when I'm stuck for ideas, I often find inspiration there. Plus all the designs are categorised according to difficulty and there's a video showing how to do each one.

you should do some dog bones

If it's meant for the dog/cat I'd probably just use a fairly tight meander, since it will be laundered like crazy.

If It's for a human, I like the bones idea!

Surely any all over pattern would be great. How about a pattern you'd like to be better at? :)

Thanks for the site. I think I like the idea of the bones, and that idea also led to possible fish for the cat quilt.

Love this!

This website is great! She adds new designs almost daily. Her personal philosophy tends towards the new age, but she's an awesome quilter!

nativetexan 05-27-2011 07:22 AM

oh you could just do some nice large swirls or loops. cute quilt!! just move the quilt slower than the foot pedal speed.

hatchet 05-27-2011 07:26 AM

Since it's got so many straight lines I'd do a swirling pattern. Lot's of control practice in swirls.

I would try something new to practice on. Maybe some little dogs and cats or bones or foot prints. Very cute.

blueangel 05-27-2011 08:09 AM

I think the bones would be a cute idea.

I like the bones idea the best. Or you could outline the letters & the dog prints and then do a meandering stipple around them. That way if you use a high loft batting then the letters & the dog prints will look really puffy. Then I'd SID on the border. By the way it's a very cute quilt.

loopy e's with dog bones?

It looks wonderful

I decided, or I guess I should say that my hands just took control, and I ended up with a meandering mess with several little fish here and there for the cat hanging. My brain and hands are not working together very well with free motion. Should have a contest of "how many fish do you see?"

Today I'll give the dog quilt a try with bones.

Find the Fish

I see fish! I think it looks great. :-D

Debbie B 05-28-2011 08:03 AM

I tried to send a reply & must have done something wrong. Hope this time works and hope that I don't duplicate my reply. Anyway, it looks great. I see several fish. You're too hard on yourself. Take a look at that picture again, because you've done a good job at FMQ.
