Beautiful quilt

true4uca 05-27-2010 01:41 PM

It looks like a nine patch with 4 flying geese in approiate places. I did stars in my sashing using a similar method.

Great looking quilt!

ok, come out, come out, whoever you are that made this pretty!

EasyPeezy 05-27-2010 01:51 PM

I'm not the maker but isn't this a variation of the Morning Star?
The sashing is same width as the squares. Very nice.

BellaBoo 05-27-2010 02:32 PM

It's a great pattern and very adaptable to many variations.

janedennis 05-27-2010 02:41 PM

I too think it is a nine patch but the points for the geese what size would you make the squares to make the points

Kathy N 05-27-2010 02:42 PM

I have a charm pack I didn't know what to do with, this is perfect!!!!

It looks like a charm pack, which is 5 inch squares. Add white 5 inch squares for the star centers, and then sew 2 1/2 inch squares on two sides of adjacent squares, right sides together. Sew with a diagonal seam. Fold back the white square & trim the back.

Here is square in a square block directions you could use this and just do the 2 sides

This is actually mine. I just used charm packs and sewed 2 3/4inches squares on the corners. If you use 2 1/2 squares the points match up. If you zoom in you'll see that my first star blocks are off at the points. There wasn't a pattern. I seen a charm pack quilt on the board that kwhite did and just copied.

It looks similar to a table runner I made with a pattern called LITTLE CHARMERS 2. I hope this helps!

That pattern is called Hidden Stars and is in the book Layer Cake, Jelly Roll, and Charm Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott.

watterstide 05-28-2010 02:23 AM

it is very pretty jennifer! you did a great job!

if i save a picture to my computer for future "to do" list,
I always save it as the persons board name..that way i know who to give credit to, or to ask questions! Kim

quilter64779 05-29-2010 05:19 AM

Very pretty, looks like 5 or 6" sw the the white one with the ones around with a hqt in 2 corners

mimee4 05-29-2010 05:48 AM

This is a beautiful quilt. It could be made in so many different color combinations, even a baby quilt. The stars are offset enough to give it character. Wonderful.

Harmony 05-29-2010 06:45 AM

That is beautiful! Looks like it could be done with charm squares!

cindygale 05-29-2010 06:47 AM

very pretty...would look good in red/white and blue..

Gramma 05-29-2010 08:03 AM

I'm thinking it's just squares and the"points" are made like half of a snowball block. Just place a small white square on each of two corners; sew diagonally from edge to edge and trim the excess below. Then match four of those with a plain solid white square and you get those "star-points". How simple... I like it! and a great beginner quilt with lost of pizzazz!

Great work even without a pattern. I also think you could probably do any size corner squares to give it a very funky variable look. The points would then be haphazard in sizes... could be interesting!

QuiltQtrs 05-29-2010 01:08 PM

Could this be one of Mary Ellen Hopkins "Connecting Up" designs?

quilt_happy 05-29-2010 01:12 PM

I am not the maker but I can tell you how to make it if you pm me. It has basically 2 blocks to it.

Jingle 05-29-2010 03:22 PM

By reading the others' comments you will see who's quilt it belongs to. Just amazing.

Cookie64 05-29-2010 04:10 PM

I think Lesley is right, the little charmers 2, 5" charm pack will make it.

How cool! I like the stars set randomly in the field! Okay if I try it, too?

Quilt Qtrs. I just notice you pin unter name House, I like your bright colors for the house, nice job.

Cathie_R 05-30-2010 03:16 PM

If no one has the pattern for this, it looks like it could be charted of on graph paper fairly easily.
