Jester Hats-August Free Motion Quilting Challenge

1 Attachment(s)
Our teacher for August for the 2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge was Wendy Sheppard and her quilting motif was jester hats. So I quilted two large hats and made little jesters all around. I also put foil on the edges to give it a little sparkle!!

You can machine quilt, it just takes practice which I have been getting a lot of lately. It also takes learning about your sewing machine and making sure you have the parts to machine quilt. I have a Juki TL-98Q and it machine quilts wonderfully!!!

Thank you, but that one is only a pocket on a tote. I do plan for a Joker quilt real soon, and you can believe that I am going to try the free motion jester quilting ;-)

Great job. I saw that design on the Sewcalgal blog. I always draw a motif several times to get the motion locked in my brain. No matter how hard i tried I just couldn't develop a rhythm with the jester hat motif. I kept messing up the direction. You did a great job with yours.

I had trouble at first also. So I got into a rhythm of 2 bounces left, then 2 bounces right, then 2 bounces up and 2 bounces down, always changing direction from the previous. Another gal in our group thought of the design as the number 3, do a regular three, then a backwards three. With time, it got easier, but it was a challenge!!
