just needs a little love
 

The ugly, colorful, center is from many moons ago, when I first started quilting. I was trying my hand at a trip around the world. I got frustrated with the blocks and my mistakes, and put them at the bottom of the UFO pile. They resurfaced a couple of years later, and thankfully my skills were better, so I fixed all the bad blocks.

They sat around for a couple more years, and then I pieced what few blocks I had made into a long, skinny, useless top. Since I didn't have any more of any of those fabrics, and had no idea where I was going to go next with this ugly duckling, back to the pile it went.

Well, yesterday I pulled it out again, determined this time to do something with it, probably for local donation. I shopped my stash for some fabrics that I thought might work, added 3 borders, and oui, la! I now have a useful size quilt top.

Now it goes to the pile that's waiting for quilting, but I am very glad that this "festive" little quilt project will soon find a home and some love.

Ok, so I read your comments before looking at your picture, so I didn't know what to expect. How can you call this ugly??! Oh my goodness, I LOVE it a LOT! The bright colors and the black work together so nicely! Someone is going to be so lucky to receive it :) Good job on turning an long time UFO to a WIP, and a beautiful one at that!

When I read your first sentence about the ugly center, I scrolled down and looked at the picture. You might need new glasses!! LOL. This quilt is beautiful! It's so bright and cheery! The lucky recipient is going to love this quilt. Wouldn't long flowing lines look amazing quilted into this?
