King BOM my LAer was so impressed with (still don't know why)
3 Attachment(s)
Here are some pictures of my king quilt. Remember, it's Civil war fabric so it's not all bright and cheerful. They are all "Stars in a star". I have two borders and each border and a star in each corner, so there is 8 more stars. Now, I can not make a flying goose correctly no matter how hard I try and I had to fudge 128 flying geese. Not one turned out correctly. And I really tried. I did a lot of 1/8" seams so as to not lose the points on the flying geese. The quilt is so big I couldn't lay it flat anywhere in my house. Here is some pictures. Hope they turned out okay. You'll see by the pictures that the quilt isn't any big deal. I don't know what the LAer was talking about when she told my LQS owner what a fantastic job I did on it.

Well, JCrow, all you have to do is look at it to know you did a fantastic job. Your points are all perfect and pretty. You really did a good job and the quilt is very pretty.
I like it very much and think you did a wonderful job.
It's a beautiful quilt and it looks like you 'saved' all your points! Great job!
I too am impressed. Love Civil war material and colors..
Thanks for showing off your beautiful quilt.. |
very pretty
Beautiful quilt!
Lovely quilt and points are looking good...great quilting too.
It is beautiful! You obviously are better at "fudging" than some of us! It looks perfect to me!
I'm impressed also, great fabrics and design!
I can see where she would give you praise. Having good points, squared up blocks, and flat borders is a LAr's dream. Praise well deserved.
I think it is a big deal and is beautiful! Don't be so hard on yourself with the flying geese. They look just fine!
Great job! |
You did a better job than I could have done. It looks great!
I love Civil War fabric. It looks great.
It's fantastic!!! You did a great job, pat yourself on the back!
Love it - the fabrics are very nice - looks like a wonderful quilt.
I think you under estimate yourself. It's very nice. Love your prints, too.
I am not a fan of Civil War fabrics...but I may have just changed my mind! This is a great quilt, and I love the stars within stars - you got the level of contrast just right so your eye floats over the quilt and doesn't get stuck anywhere. And I have now learned that "flying geese" isn't just when you put the units nose to tail, as I always thought. Cool!
As for your LAer: my theory is that she wants to buy the quilt from you... You'll be rich! Rich, I say!!! Alison |

Beautiful job; looks great to me!
Oh I love it! I like the muted tones from the period and the work is great!
It's a beautiful quilt.
Lovely quilt!
The blocks are 12 1/2". The pictures weren't clear. I take horrible pictures. I use my cell phone. But thank you for saying nice things about my quilt. Now, I have to bind it. And I won't say "hate", but binding is something I would rather never ever do. I actually pay people to do my binding. I'm so bad. My LQS owner bound my last quilt. She machine binded it with a flower stitch, so I am going to try that. If it looks bad, I'll pay someone to do it again. I like putting the quilt together but not quilting or binding. I'm not an all around quilter yet.

All of the above and may I add that I love the combinations you used in each star. I, too, love the CW fabrics. Great quilt!
Beautiful quilt. I can see why she would say that...look at the points on all your stars.
I longarm so what I am noticing is those gorgeous points and how even the borders are around the blocks. What that tells me is that this quilt is flat and square, a dream to work on.
WOW! It looks fantastic!
really pretty and the points turned out well. would paper pieceing the flying geese keep them in shape? i've not tried that with flying geese. may make them go faster.
Very nice I love it
