Last minute baby quilt I came up with...
3 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
Some pics for those of you who asked to see the baby quilt I made for baby Victoria's baby shower last wk...It was a last minute deal...I finished it at 4 in the morning the day of the shower..I am not usually THAT last minute:o...It all got off course when my sewing machine went "kaput" right before Christmas...I bought a small one to get me by until I could get my "dream machine" in (Janome Horizon 7700...I did get it, but haven't had a chance to even plug it in yet!! Sigh...).. Anyways, the small machine I used to get this quilt done was not the best at blanket or zigzag stitch...as a matter of fact it skipped and stuttered so much that I had to go over the same areas 2 and 3 times...and this was after changing threads, needles, etc..Even though its an inexpensive machine, I expected better of it, and am disappointed in it...thats another thread, tho, eh?..Please go easy on me, as I didn't do fmq in the flower or V squares, and I know I should have. I am still in the learning process of fmq...I keep wanting to get better at it, but admit I revert back to hand quilting a lot of the time (when I HAVE time...:p). Also, the border is not wavy, its the way it appears in the pic... Here are some pics, the last 2 are close up of long legged bird and giraffe fmq I did..I also did fmq teddy bear and heart in the other 2 squares: Kif |
Such a cute quilt! The fabric is darling.

That is sooooo cute!!! AWESOME!!!!

I do not have a machine that quilts, I piece quilts and send them out to have them quilted.
I was wondering how you quilt on your machine, do you follow a pattern that you trace on your material, or these designs in the machine? Thanks. |
Pretty quilt!

Sew cute!!!

Great job!

It looks so soft and sweet. You did a great job on it. I'm sorry you had machine trouble. It sounds like you are set up though with your new Janome. Have fun with it.

Darling baby quilt.

It's a beautiful quilt, my initial is "V", my birthday is this week, too bad the baby-to-be got it first or I'd send you my address LOL.
|
Very nice quilt. Putting something together at the last minute - and taking time to personalize it - priceless.
|
I think its adorable.

I love your quilt.....simple but beautiful....I do not see your errors or mistakes......it is really nice.....it is really frustrating when you have a deadline....and the machine goes kerplooy.........I had that nightmare years ago, so I bought a second machine for less than$300 and use that if I need too...........again you did a great job......love the colors.
|
you did a great job despite all the bumps in the road.
|

Mary, what I did on this quilt was I looked up different shapes on google image...for free coloring book pages..I then used a fabric water erasable marker and traced around the images..then I did a machine quilt around them..what is odd about this time is I did NOT use my fmq foot...I actually used applique foot...since my go to machine was broken, and I haven't had time to try out my new one, I "winged" it...I don't have a long arm...I only quilt with my domestic machine...or hand quilt... If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away...tho I am certainly not one to know much about "real" fmq with the fmq foot...lol.. K |
