Ligia sent me her IRR ( international Round Robin)

That means that several QB members worked on this quilt throughout this year....so I will be the lucky one to get to send it back to her! However, with so many people working on..so much investment..I hope everyone likes what I did!

This was fun....she sent me two links ...and told me she liked this style of quilting:

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-156538-1.htm

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-152852-1.htm

So I wanted to incorporate the sweet pea design and feathers....with Charisma Curls. Fans...and continuous curves.

The sweet pea vines are in all of the snow ball blocks....outlined with continuous curves. I put Charisma Curls in all the purple background areas. The feather is in the outside edge...fans petals in the inside egde of the zig-zag design...swirls actually fill in the zig-zag area.

All together it all came out beautifully!

I quilted everything freehand on my 26 INNOVA. I used Hobbs polydown batting.

Thanks for looking.

Wow - fantastic quilt! Love the fabrics used; the folks who worked on this one did a great job. Each round works beautifully with the ones before it. The quilting enhances the top wonderfully.

I know you are very busy but would appreciate you giving me a few a few lines. Can you tell me why you chose Innova over other machines? Currently have a Gammill vision but would like to upgrade to a larger computerized model and looking at the Innova due to price. Any idea how the Inn ova stacks up to the Gammill? Sewed on one at a workshop at MQX in Rhode Island. Is the table steady, and does not vibrate? How easy is tension adjustment? Did you think about computerization? Any thought you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mandy,

Well I used a gammil before I bought my INNOVA. My LQS rented one out. The shop ended up selling both of their Gammils are replacing them with Innovas

As far as the frame..mine doesn't vibrate...but sometimes at shows they might because you have to be able to adjust them....once you get the frame adjusted no vibrations. Darby (Dmyers on QB) I think had that and made an adjustment and now its perfectly fine....it's just getting everything level after you set up the frame. The frame is very stable/steady. The frame is aluminum....so it's easy to move..if need be..but the poles are galvanized steel. So you can lean on them....they won't bow or bend...As far as tension. It has a patent. It's the only long arm on the market with a constant tensioner. So it takes any type of thread. You can embroider. it is also the only long arm on the market that has an E-cording attachment ..that couches down fibers and yarn....very cool. I have one.

The tension is easy to adjust....of course there is a learning curve to everything...but if you have worked on a gammil already you will like this one much better...you have more options....

I have been trained to use the computer system....so I can teach others how to use it. I am not sure that I want one....but it is a very nice computer system...and it stacks up. I would do a search of reviews on -line. I come across them quite frequently and they get really good reviews.Especially dollar for dollar.

Good luck in your search!
Just PM with any questions.

Charisma, are you doing thread colour changes to match the areas you're working on, or using a monofilament? What thread are you using?? Thanks!

kim_s 10-13-2011 08:37 PM

Okay - wow! Just incredible!

sharoney 10-13-2011 09:08 PM

I can't believe after looking at so many of your gorgeous quilts that you don't quilt your own! I saw that in another post- You "read" a quilt so wonderfully!

I use different threads all the time.... This one I didn't do any thread changes..I used a 7o- weight yellow gold color.

blondeslave 10-14-2011 01:28 AM

Gorgeous quilt! The colors are fabulous.

nunnyJo 10-14-2011 03:09 AM

nice and great quilting but personally I think too much quilting takes away from the pieced product. anyoneelse think this?

tealfalcon 10-14-2011 03:39 AM

stunning....great job by everyone involved

Yooper32 10-14-2011 04:18 AM

On this quilt, I think the intense quilting really brought out certain accents with great skill. I think that the quilting enhanced the whole picture. Great quilt for all concerned with the piecing too, it all just jelled perfectly.

toadmomma 10-14-2011 04:32 AM
