I just finished this wallhanging for my dining room. I used Sharon Schamber's piecelique technique to piece the circles.
http://www.sharonschamber.com/free%2...9%20circle.pdf I machine quilted it using variegated thread. |

You have inspired me and I love your quilt. Thank you for sharing the link. Batiks are one of my favorite fabrics and this is a great pattern for using them. Another one to add to my list.

No it wasn't hard, as long as you take your time and sew carefully so the circles stay circular.
END QUOTE i love bright, bold colors. this quilt is wonderful. i wish i could claim it as mine! can i? but i don't think i understand. what is the advantage to doing it this way as opposed to doing it the regular way? just as you would in drunkard's path sewing quarter circles? this looks like more work and more waste. i understand the directions, and i thought she was going to leave the circle whole. i think that's a neat way to do it. but when she cut it into quarters i was very surprised.
|
Butterflywing, I don't know if there is an advantage to using this method if you're going to cut the circle in 4. Since that wasn't my plan, this method worked well for me.
|
so, you just left them as full circles? that's what i would have done. that way you don't have to match seams.

LOL!  |
Those colors rock! My brother would kill to have a quilt like that. Beautiful quilting!
|
Love it.

Butterflywing, I started with a 9" square and the circle is 5" in diameter. After the blocks were sewn, I trimmed the blocks to 8.5" after marking the center of the circle to make sure it was centered in the block.
