Here is my "trapunto". It is a simple version.
I do not use Water Soluable thread, but I use vinyl thread (or original thread), just sew around the sample (on a thin paper!), and rip the paper.
Then I stipling the extra area. I called it a false trapunto.I have o lot of "trapunto" sample.

QuiltnNan 03-19-2011 12:34 PM

Oh how fun.....I can't wait to see your instructions and thank you!!! Don't worry about your English....it's totally fine!!

Beautiful!!!

tothenci 03-19-2011 01:16 PM

At the bottom a simple fabrik of the background, so it follows the thick batting, and the top of fabric. The sample is on the thin paper, I pin these together, then I quilt around the sample on the paper(so no creased!), and I rip off the paper...I hope you understand...I create one by one blocks, then assemble these pieces. I use "one line sample", so easy work!

Oh what elegant quilting and lovely results.

grocifer 03-20-2011 04:53 AM

Did I miss it == I didn't see the type of batting used. It looks so poufy and doubt I would get the same effect with warm and natural. Loved the look and it sounds so easy to do.
