here's the mini dear jane triangle its BR1

it measures 2.5 inches wide by 4.0 inches tall finished.

the first pic is just the mini triangle and the 2nd pic is a different jane triangle done at the traditional size of 5 inches wide by 8 inches tall finished.

i'm gonna try and make a mini jane to match the large jane.

it will be American Jane and Mini Me

Another GREAT job ! Are you planning on doing all the triangles in mini ?

kluedesigns 12-24-2009 10:04 PM

yes, i hope to do the entire quilt as a mini.

it will be blocks at 2.5 inches square with triangles at 2.5 by 4 inches.

i'm thinking 1/4 inch sashing and i'll do the scalloped border at 1 inch.

the entire mini quilt would measure 46 inches square and the traditional jane measures 84 inches.

sharon b 12-24-2009 10:15 PM

WOW I am really impressed  Wish I had you patience

Dawn Hendrix 12-24-2009 10:23 PM

O mercy .. you are at it again.. You sooooo amaze me!

Jingle 12-24-2009 11:13 PM

I don't think I would have the patience to make those.
It will be gorgeous when you are done.

Sorry Klue I am not familiar with the Dear Jane series, but did you paper piece (foundation) the mini triangle? Both Triangles look just great!

kluedesigns 12-24-2009 11:32 PM

yes, it was paper pieced. its roughly half the size of the traditional jane triangles.

here's a link to the original jane quilt, its an interesting quilt made during a very difficult time in our countries history.

Thanks Klue--will check the site. I do lots of mini's, but don't pp. Smallest width I use is 3/4 inch to finish 1/4 inch. Made some Christmas ornaments with a 3/4" nine patch set on point. Will post pics after I take the small tree down in January.

amma 12-25-2009 01:00 AM

WOW!!! They are both beautiful, but the mini is really impressive :D:D:D

sawsan 12-25-2009 01:02 AM

Klue
great job and takes too much time u r such patience person bec small piece is more difficult (i think)
what is BR1
I am not familiar with the Dear Jane so thanks 4 the site

kluedesigns 12-25-2009 01:33 AM

the original jane quilt is referred to by row and number because its 225 blocks and thats just too many names to remember.

the row are A-M and the numbers are 1-13 for the center blocks.

the border triangles are Top Row (TR), Right Side (RS), Left Side (LS), and Bottom Row (BR) and the numbers are also 1-13.

so in this case, BR1, its Bottom Row Triangle Number 1.

the kites (corner units in the border) Top Left Corner (TLC), Top Right Corner (TRC), Bottom Left Corner (BLC), Bottom Right Corner (BRC).

Oh my, they are small!

Mamaskeeto 12-25-2009 04:34 AM

Once again I have to say WOW at your work. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see the whole quilt.

Bevanger 12-25-2009 05:49 AM

dakotamaid 12-25-2009 06:06 AM

WOW! and Merry Christmas.

sewsewquilter 12-25-2009 07:00 AM

Oh Klue, a mini...wow... it's great.

n2scraplvr 12-25-2009 12:29 PM

They are just adorable! Love the stark contrast in your mini. There's something so pleasing about the preciseness of the blocks in mini size. Color and perfection appeal to me as it's evident they appeal to you! Thanks for explaining the BR1 as I wasn't familiar w/that; have the DJ patterns in 4" size but haven't made any yet. Thanks for the link also ~ was interesting reading about her family. Always knew her name but not her background. I love knowing the history. You did fantastic on these blocks and we can't wait to see the 46" size quilt ~ I like that size better than 84" anyday!!  great job, btw! Merry Xmas!!

I have 5 postings of mini's. Check my list of topics and you will find them-mini ornaments, fall mini's and then 3 sets of my first pics posted. Think these are 1/2" finished squares and triangles.

sewjoyce 12-26-2009 08:54 PM

WOW! :D

sewsue 12-26-2009 08:57 PM

Looking great. I am working (forever) on the midget Dear Jane blocks and have just been reminded to continue.

Sheree from Chicago 12-26-2009 11:20 PM

OMG Klue! You must love a challenge!

yes, a mini DJ quilt is half the size of the original. so the blocks are 2.25 inches and the triangles are 2.5x4 inches.

Cre8tvlwyr 02-24-2011 12:51 PM

I feeeeelll the challenge coming on....
but should probably try normal size first!

SuzyQ 02-24-2011 01:21 PM

Wow, I'm impressed! I'm working on Dear Jane using the 4 1/2 squares and that's small enough for me! Are you sewing by machine or by hand? Even at 4 1/2" my machine kept wanting to eat the small pieces so I'm doing most of them by hand.
