This is my second puzzle quilt. Like I said before, my son has Autism and the puzzle is the symbol of autism. Dillon (my son) goes to the Cincinnati center for autism for ABA therapy. They are AWSOME! Therapy is very expensive. Insurance does not pay for autism therapy so they rely a lot on donations for familys that can not afford treatment. Every year they hold a "Night of the stars" where there is a silent auction. This is the quilt I am donating for auction. I'm really excited about it I hope it does well.

I haven't sewn the blocks together yet, just finished the blocks. I'm thinking about doing a border this time of maybe the red and white polka dot fabric.

Thanks,
Carrie

That is SO cute!! What size are the strips and the little squares? I'd love to make one and donate it for that sort of an auction, too!

It looks great so far, and I like your idea of the red border. I hope it brings a nice sum of $ at the auction.

Marcia 02-07-2009 07:22 PM

You have done a great job and I hope that you raise a lot of money with your quilt.

I love this quilt--this is on my some day to-do list.

I love it, I totally need to make one like that!

b.zang 02-07-2009 08:23 PM

Okay, that does it. I've just fiinished my last quilt and have been cruising for a new project and you've just given it to me. Thank you!! I didn't know that the puzzle was the symbol for autism. My daughter is an interventionist working with autistic children and I would love to give her a quilt like this. I see you listed the strip sizes. Thank you again!!!

If mine turns out half as nicely as yours, I'll be happy.

sewaholic 02-08-2009 02:04 AM

Beautiful quilt. Hope you raise lots of money.
Thanks for the sharing the sizes of the pieces. I was wondering also.

Looking at this quilt again and lovin' it all over again. Where can I find a pattern for it, do you know? My husband's grandson is autistic and the family always participates in fund raisers. This would be a wonderful surprise for them to auction off.

I got the pattern at Joann's a few years ago. I'm not sure where you would find it now, but I put the sizes on page one if you wanted to try without the pattern.

Thanks,
Carrie

I don't know where to find the pattern now but I did give the strip sizes on the first page.

Thanks,
Carrie

That's a great quilt and so fitting. Good luck with the auction.

mpeters1200 02-08-2009 02:53 PM

My son is autistic too. I love your quilt. They have a puzzle wall hanging up at the ABA center.

I hope your quilt can bring in lots of money. Insurance paid for part of our son's ABA and Floortime therapies, but not much. I know how expensive it truly is.

Thank you for posting this quilt and donating it. The world needs as much awareness as possible.

That's a wonderful quilt! I have the pattern--but didn't know it was the symbol for Autism--now it's even more special. A great one to donate to a good cause. :D

ksusan 02-08-2009 07:09 PM

Thank you for the pattern. I have another pattern for a larger quilt, but I prefer this style and size.

I work for a mental health agency and autistic children and adults are close to my heart.

With just two 6.5 inch squares I had set aside for another project, I was able to cut one complete puzzle set and sit have a 4.5 inch square for a small I Spy Quilt I have in the planning/collecting phase.

I will be going after my scraps :D

Using this as a fund-raiser is an excellent idea!!!! Thanks.....

Your puzzle quilts are so cute. Nice bright colors for the kids. I sure hope it brings in a large amount.

JCL in FL 02-09-2009 02:00 PM

Really cute. It looks like the sewing would be easy but keeping which color went where. would be a night mare. You'd have to plan ahead for sure. I have a feeling a seam ripper should be kept close at hand while sewing it. I'm sure it'll get lots of bids, it will mean even more to many who will see it because of it's symbolism. Good work.

grannypjb 02-09-2009 05:05 PM

I see you are on line. Would like to know where you got this pattern. I have a friend with an autistic child and she would love this as the puzzle piece is their logo. Thanks.

annette 02-09-2009 05:48 PM

What a wonderful quilt for an autism fundraiser! I have 2 autistic grandsons, and I'm so glad that public awareness of autism is being raised in magazines, newspapers and on TV. May I use your puzzle piece idea for the next autism fundraiser I contribute to?

lgeorge 02-10-2009 03:43 AM

May God Bless you both. I am sure you will dowell on the auction with such a beautiful quilt.
