My Ancestors

Howdy y'all :c)

Yesterday I was browsing through some of the photos on ancestry.com of some of my ancestors. I came across this photo of a family posing outside of their log cabin. I have no idea how I'm related to these people, but I thought it was really cool that they put a quilt up on the outside of the cabin to use as a backdrop for their photo! Does anyone know what pattern this is? I'd love to make one like it! :c)

Don't know that pattern, but it's nice to see quilts from the old days. It could be a controled scrappy. Thanks for sharing.

Could it be Snowball?

Looks like a rail fence/log cabin. Log cabins were probably one of the most popular patterns back then.

I think it is a variation of a Log Cabin. I think that the darker squares are actually the 4 smaller squares of a quarter log cabin block coming together? It could also be a version of Courthouse Steps? I think it is so cool that they used it for the backdrop for their picture. She must have been proud of it and she had good reason to be!

We also have old family pictures with quilts in the background. We have one with great-grandparents where they took all the nice things, quilt pretty table, lamp ect outside in the snow (no light inside) so it got the whole family and worldly possessions in one shot.
