My Daughter's New Quilt

This little girl:

wanted a new quilt, she said her old one is too babyish. She still loves it, but she wanted a big girl quilt to go with it. I have been really fortunate to have found a new quilt shop here in Austin that is extremely kid friendly. That's a huge deal to me since I have four kids and three of them aren't in school yet. The shop is called Remnants Fiber Culture and I've gotten to know the owner through our frequent visits. I let Ellie pick out a fat quarter bundle and a Rose Card pattern at the shop.

here's how her quilt turned out:

There is a vintage hand embroidered dish towel on the back that I pieced into the quilt.

I screen printed a little tag for this one. I added some fabric and rick rack to dress it up. I've actually just had some fabric printed from Spoonflower with little tags on it so I'm going to use them on future projects :)

I really like the gray background fabric on this one, it's Mirage in Silver Lining from Connecting Threads and the wrong side has a linen or suiting texture that I love so I use it wrong side out in tons of projects.

I quilted it on my Juki in a spiral pattern only squares instead of circles. So an ever increasing square starting small in the middle and growing with each time around. I tried to get a decent picture of the quilting but failed miserably. I love that there is so much space on the Juki, it makes me way more willing to turn the quilt more often and quilt more difficult designs.

Very nice cheerful quilt. Love the story around it and how your daughter needed a bigger girls quilt now. Thanks for sharing.

She is a beautiful little (big) girl and her quilt is wonderful! She did a good job picking fabric & pattern and you made a great quilt for her! Good job!

The little one is so pretty and has such a lovely look about her. The quilt I am sure will be enjoyed by her.
