Here is a little quilt that I made to go in the dog room over the top half of the window between that room and the kitchen. The pattern is Let Sleeping Dogs Lie. I modified the dog drawings to match my dogs, past and present. I thought they were cuter with googly eyes, so that's what I used.
The dogs are (clockwise around each motif): Maggie a wirey terrier mix, Evelyn a rat terrier, Jack a schipperke, Puddin a beagle Rocket a pit bull mix, Dixie a hound mix, Leila a black and tan coonhound, Mr. Big a retriever mix Henry a hound mix (my avatar), Tootsie a little black dog, Doodle a pug, Possum a blue heeler mix I live in the country and people dump dogs on the road out here. Most of these dogs just showed up here needing a home. |
Way too cute. Love my dumped dogs. Just wish there weren't so many of them:)

Henry, my avatar, died of a fungal infection in his lungs. I took him to the vet as soon as he showed a sign of illness, but he was dead within the week. When the vet called and told me, I said, "I've always had a hound." He said, "I can fix you up with one."
He gave me Leila, a registered black and tan coonhound. She had gone on a hunt by herself and gotten hit by a car. Someone found her and took her to the vet. He found her owners who didn't want her back because she was going to have her leg amputated because of nerve damage. The girls (they are girls and not women) in the vet's office and the vet didn't want to put her down. He amputated her leg, spayed her, and gave her to me. She is a real sweetie. |
Very cute!
|
What talent!!!!! That is so special.
|
love this! Had seen the pattern, but could not figure how to personalize it. You did great!
|
1) LOVE the piece...it's just too cute! I've always wondered a way to get all our furry friends in one thing :)
2) You're an awesome person for helping all those little lost souls. I don't live in the country but do the same thing. I just don't understand people & their neglect toward children & animals. I think you should have to get a license to have both! |
Btw...my bf is going to scream!!! I just looked up the pattern and designer. "Helene Knott" OMG she's got some great cat & dog stuff. I want one of each and it's YOUR fault...lol :)

Oh, how cute is that!
Talking about dumped dogs, Mama had dumped cats that she truly loved. Someone dumped a pregnant cat at her driveway. She fed her and she then had two of the prettiest kittens. One with no tail and another with just a stub. The mother cat then got run over by a car. Mama named the kittens: Bunny and Stubby. They went on to have....well you know the story. When Mama went to the nursing home, they were all tame....but not now. But over the last almost 5 years, my DH and I have kept them fed everyday. There's about 7 there now. The health department told me to just quit feeding them, and they would go somewhere else. I just can't do that. Once this past month, the snow kept us away and they came out from everywhere when we did get there to feed them. I just can't let them starve and there's no one in the county to pick them up. They are my babies now, I guess until, until the estate is put up for sale in the spring and Medicaid takes it. I hope someone will feed them then. Love my animals. |
Cute.
|
OMG...I am so impressed! You did a great job! It's just dog-gone terrific!

Wow, such nice work!!! So glad you also rescue those strays. On Saturday we adopted a stray from the local Humane Society. She is a Pharaoh Hound. We've named her Cleopatra (Cleo) and she's such a dear!!!
|
I really do love that quilt and you did a great job on it! I need to check about getting that pattern.
|

how cute is That! when we lived on the farm, we were deep in the country. It was remarkable how many dogs were let go out there. Our neighbors had four dogs - all left in front of, or near, their house. The way our property sat on the road made it inconvenient for dumping. (although we had three dogs, but all our own.) But, isn't that amazing how folks just drop off their dogs like that? Even little ones! I think people believe that at least the dogs have a Chance, vs taking them to the pound...
|
Very cute - love the addition of the eyes!
