I finished the top and decided to start a small child's quilt to go with it from the leftover fabrics and blocks. I am going to give them both to our local Ronald McDonald House when they are quilted.
I only bought $6 worth of fabric for this, and I have a lot of that leftover, so basically I could say this is my Scrap Challenge quilt for 2008, but I am sure I will make more. The quilt top is leaning against the wrong side of the dark green backing fabric on a mattress. The hearts and vine fabric are the outer edge of the quilt. :D full view closer overall view scrappy heart cornerstone |

Oh, it's soooooo pretty. I love the colors you chose. Great pattern too. $6.00 worth of fabric?!! I'm amazed! The recipient(s) will be thrilled to receive your piece of art.

That is wonderful! It's theme is so perfect for where you're donating it. Something like "We want you to feel at home while you're here."

It is amazing how making this to donate, instead of for money or for family or myself, is SOOOO REWARDING! I can't wait for the two to be quilted so I can take them over there! I'll post more pics on this thread when the baby quilt is done! Thanks everyone! Wendy |
Very nice. I am sure the recipient will be very appreciative. Kyia

It is so nice of you to donate to them... My family up in Indiana had to stay in one for 3 months because my Nephew was in the children's hospital in Indianapolis.. Now every year they go the 1st of December and decorate the Ronald McDonald house for Christmas.. Then the end of the first week in January they go and take it all down and clean it.. They also have a fund raiser every year in November starting the day he was born..
I never thought about doing some quilts.. I really should follow your lead and do a couple to send along with the money I donate.. It is a personal touch...They really helped my family out... My family and I will always be grateful for the Ronald McDonald Houses.. You are a very special person to think of them... |
Very nice and you picked a great charity............your A GOOD PERSON

I love the scrappy heart in the corner. I can see a whole quilt made just of hearts. You did a wonderful job, and I love the purple colors! S.

That will definatley lift someone's spirits!
$6 for all the material? Excellent! |
You did a beautiful job! I'm making my scrap quilt for the Fisher houses, just found out last night they are short on quilts and blankets.
Bless you Wendy, our world needs the quilt hugs!!!!! Love the pattern! |
What a beautiful quilt for such a worthy cause. When I had to go to the hospital, my husband, Jim, stayed in the Ronald McDonald house for 10 days. We did not have a dime extra, and they did not press him for a donation. We were so grateful for their help in a time of need. They are the best!

I really loves the houses.....very warm quilt...good work |
Beautiful quilt, great idea and how wonderful that you are donating the quilts to such a wonderful charity. Thank YOU!

How wonderful - both the donations and the quilt(s). I agree with barnbum's sentiment. You go girl - you have chosen an awesome cause!
|
Ronald McDonald House has been moved! The Grand Opening is this weekend. They have a really nice new place - much larger and I'll be taking this quilt there at 10am tomorrow.
When I went to donate it last year, they were getting ready to break ground, so I waited. I hope the quilt is well loved! http://rmhpensacola.org here's their site if you are curious. |
