I used a red batik thinking it would define the pieces in the flower, it didn't work so I imbroidered (sp) around each one.

well, I kinda do applique a different way using freezer paper on the right side of the fabric and needle turn under using the paper as a guide. The paper keeps the fabric stable and you dont have to reverse the pattern then try to iron down all the edges.

OK,that would be the easy way.

it is, then with this pattern I used 16 gage clear plastic vinyl I found at Joann's and an ultra fine sharpie. I traced the pattern on the vinyl and layed it over the piece so I could place the next flower petal exactly where it needed to go. if that makes sense
