It is not the fancy ones that I have been seeing on here, though. But it turned out great, I think. My strips were cut at 2.5" only and these were scraps I had left over, plus some fabric I bought from Bev on here :) and the border was from a box I bought from moonrise. Thanks ladies!

Anway, I did not quilt it, I tied it. The back of the quilt is an extremely heavy blanket that I found in my closet. I have not used that blanket in years, so I thought I would give it a face lift and put my Bargello on it. I really tried to quilt it. On my first row of stitching, I got half way and I could not get the blanket through my machine. So I instead of working up a sweat and getting my bloodpressure up, I stopped and ripped out those stitches and tied it instead.

I hope it looks good to everyone else

theresse 09-26-2010 08:41 PM

When I first saw it I thought you must have done a lot of fussy cutting on it, the colors just pop out, I IS beautiful, you know it is going to be warm. You did a great job. Theresse

cjomomma 09-26-2010 08:50 PM

Oooooo! Awwwwww! Beatiful.

SharonD 09-26-2010 10:32 PM

It's lovely. I would really love to try a Bargello. Was actually thinking of taking some paper to work and trying to make a design I could follow. I like tying, I have done it on a baby quilt that I made it turned out well.
Well done.

Thank you all for the great response! Here is the recipe I followed...

I emailed Bonnie and sent her a picture of how mine turned out and she wrote me back.

Bonnie Hunter was actually in Jacksonville this weekend for the Quilt Fest and I did not even realize it was her until late Sunday afternoon. lol She has a lot more I want to try.

Yes the backing is THICK. I remember snuggling under it as a kid and I know my son will probably snuggle under it now :)

Barb_MO, I am going to attempt your bargello soon. Now that I have this one out of the way and sort of know what to expect ;) I have already printed out your tut!

Just let me know if you need any help.

Wendys Quilts 09-27-2010 10:26 AM

Thanks everyone!

Lynn, it took me about a month or so I guess. I had to juggle it with my son :)

Most definitely I will be making another one! I did this one to kind of give me an idea about the technique because I have never done tubes before. This next one I do will from Barb_MO's tut.

Thanks, Barb, I will take you up on your help when I get started on another one. ;)

ann clare 09-27-2010 10:40 AM
