My first finished quilt!

3 Attachment(s)
I think i posted this earlier but my pictures didn't take! opps! lol
So my first finished quilt. I did post last wk my first finished project that was a pot holder for my sister, but this is my first blanket sized item even if it is lap sized! LOL! i know there are alot of wonky spots wear things dont line up, but it is my first try, and with inferior tools to use at the time ( i cut all the blocks using a pairing knife! :o )
But i do love it, and all its flaws, and the kitties seem to as well, they all curl up on it wear ever it is!

Great colors Great Quilt

debcavan 11-13-2011 06:58 PM

People look at quilts as a whole. And this is pretty. Love the back.

sign up at JoAnn.com and get their flyer so you can see when the 50% sales are on quilting supplies. It will go easier and faster with the right equipment.

SherryW 11-13-2011 06:58 PM

Good job! Please get some scissors or rotary cutter before you hurt yourself :)

ilovetosew 11-13-2011 07:01 PM

Very pretty quilt! Paring knife??!! Time to invest in some equipment!

quilter711 11-13-2011 07:02 PM

You are off to a great start. I think the hardest part is picking the fabric. You have the talent - comes natural!! The quilt and your picture taking are tremendous.

Bless your heart, a paring knife.. I wonder if that's a first for the QB? I think it looks wonderful and you did a good job. Be proud of yourself. Unless that clothesline is awful low to the ground it sure looks larger than a lap top size. Keep up the good work.

jollyquilting 11-13-2011 07:05 PM

Wow!! You did it!! I'm so glad you took pictures, don't forget to put a label on the back and good luck on getting some proper equipment, I don't know how you did such a great job.

4EVERquilt 11-13-2011 07:07 PM

It's nice!! I really love the back too.

lollygagging 11-13-2011 09:38 PM

If you can do that with a paring knife there's no limits to what you will be able to do with a rotary cutter and a ruler!! Great first effort. I love the colors and your "wonkies" don't show. Thanks for sharing.

Sandy64 11-14-2011 04:26 AM

Boy, are you a brave one! A paring knife? i can't imagine what one of mine would look like if I used a paring knife. Great job. Sandy

Sharon-OH 11-14-2011 04:35 AM

A pairing knife - really. It must have been very sharp. Love your colors. Cant wait to see what you come up with next with proper tools.
Very nice job.
Sharon

cjackaitlin 11-14-2011 04:57 AM

very nice first quilt, especially cut with a paring knife. I think you need a new cuting tool. LOL

amyhamilton 11-14-2011 05:06 AM

lol, ty everyone! i thought you might like to know that i did end up getting a proper rotary, and a large mat! now im loving quilting even more! no more wrist pain! woohoo.
the clothes line is very low to the ground! it is strung between two trees! lol, just enough to put out blankets and sheets in the summer so they dont have to go in the dryer.
From what i heard i wish i could go to Joannes, but there isnt one neer me! i live in New Brunsiwck! lol, we don't have much of anything. I go to fabricvill, the fabric store we have here, but for quilting there isn't alot, so im working up the courage to do an online order!

Hi and welcome to the board from Iowa. I am so proud of you for using what you had at hand (a paring knife - smile) to make such a beautiful work of art. You should be very proud of this first quilt. The fabrics are beautiful and you did a wonderful job. You are well on your way. Thank you for sharing.
