This past summer I was able to purchase a "stash" from a quilter who was giving up quilting. I got a lot of scraps in addition to some nice, large pieces. I decided to do a scrap quilt after seeing so many wonderful examples on this board. I also decided to use some of the stash for the back and binding. I purchased flannel (found on a clearance table for $1.50 a yard) for the filler as with all of the seams, it didn't seem to need anything too heavy. It is not perfect but I learned a lot. For example, if the front is in squares, do not do the back in squares because as you stitch in the ditch, the lines do not match up! I will try another because it was fun to do and almost seems like it was free as it basically just cost my time.
