What a lovely sight...and everything is sooooo green, yep I know, cos you got rain and we don't - well we did last week over 2" fell in a hour or so, three houses in the town collapsed!! BUT everywhere is still burnt to a cinder colour....Your GD obviously has a natural affinity with the animals, comes from being brought up with them I suppose :D

zyxquilts 09-15-2008 01:36 PM

So cute! Now we need to see one of them following her from the front too

barnbum 09-15-2008 01:53 PM

That's awesome. You got some great photos. Bring her over here and the horses will follow her too--bring your camera.

I don't think so, but it made spanish national t.v., I started back at Spanish class today up in Periana and our teacher told us about it, she was casually watching t.v. and heard Periana mentioned.....mind you its not surprising, as alot of these very old town houses don't have foundations...just built out of stone on the surface.....

Craftybug 09-15-2008 02:41 PM

Way tooooooooo cute. My daughter had a small herd of goats while she grew up. Mostly nubian but a couple of alpine. I delivered a few babies. When they seemed to be in labor we would put them ib a 4 horse trailer and stand by, Fun times.

Marcia 09-15-2008 06:35 PM

Oh, Melissa-Teegyn looks precious out there with the goats!! I wish my little girls could join her-they would have a blast!

pocoellie 09-15-2008 07:09 PM

Where are you in OK? Do you irrigate? I didn't think there would be any green at this time. Very, very pretty. Cute gd.

mgshaw 09-15-2008 07:14 PM

Marcia, bring them on over!!!!!

Pocoellie, we are in northwestern OK. It was getting pretty dry the end of July and first of August but we started getting just enough rain to green it up them this last week before Ike, we got 5 inches of rain.

They are Boer goats. Most of them are registered with the ABGA, which allows percentages, most of ours are at least 75%-98% Boer. We do have several that are not registered as they are just grade.

Shadow Dancer 09-16-2008 10:38 AM

Awww, adorable! :)

Butterflyspain 09-16-2008 01:03 PM

Melissa, just caught up with this thread, what a little cutie pie she is. She can be an international goat herder, we have loads of goats over here, which reminds me I have to take a picture of our local goat man, he lives on a slope and so do his goats, sure as I speak these goats have got 2 short legs and 2 long legs that slope is so steep. i will try and get a picture of them. I couldnīt believe it when I first saw it.

Do you make Goats Cheese. Should think its pretty time consuming, but it is lovely.

I would love to see the pictures of those goats!!!
These are actually meat goats, not dairy. We just sell them 'cause frankly, after helping them be born and sometimes bottle feeding them and such I could never eat one!!!!!!!

bluebird 09-16-2008 05:54 PM

Love the pictures with your GD, way too cute. About 6 weeks ago we got into goats, 29 nannies and a billie. What fun. We ran electric wire inside the pasture barb wire fence. So far so good. Have been told that if water can go thru a fence, so can a goat! Ours are boar influence, boy are we learnin' about goats :!: DH says they are four legged bush hogs. Can't wait to have babies. :D

tlrnhi 09-16-2008 07:50 PM

How cute is that! Love the last one with her, goat and flowers. So pretty!

jbsstrawberry 09-16-2008 08:07 PM

Melissa she's beautiful!!! Such precious pictures!!! You did a great job in stealth mode, maybe you should hire out with her for photo ops LOL. Absolutely adorable!!

Butterflyspain 09-16-2008 11:42 PM

I couldnīt eat one that I had brought into the world or hand reared.
Its quite a delicacy here, but I have never tried it. think they mainly keep them for the milk and for making cheese.

I love the baby ones they are so cute.
