I'd mentioned in the "Introduce Yourself" thread that I would post a pic of the hand-pieced Royal Cross blocks I've done so far. Sadly, my daughter's camera's batteries were fading fast, so I had to snap quick, and the picture is blurry. You can kind of get the idea, anyway.

It took me a year to do one block, then I did the other five in Dec/Jan. Now I'm back to it again, and I hope to get the others done in the next month or so. It's my first quilt, and just for the living room, when my husband falls asleep on the couch, or I get a chance to take a nap.

Looking at it now, I see the overwhelming pattern is circles, which I'm not too fond of. I like the crosses, so I guess I'll be surrounding the blocks with sashing, and then a border.

I bet it will be a beauty, when it's all done.

They are beautiful! And all by hand...Wow! That is even more outstanding!

Please be sure to post when it is all done. Can't wait to see!

 By hand? You're doing that by hand. I bow to you. :D

Don't let anyone drool on it when you're done!!

It's amazing how those circles appear--it'll look great with lattice too.

I will be looking for more!!

Wow, your blocks are AMAZING! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. :D

I'd like the blocks to show a cross, more than an 'X' (my medieval history love  ), so I'll be putting them together 'on point' (?) as diamonds, with the sashing. That should really pull away from the circles, I think.

barnbum, the hand piecing is much slower, but oh so much more relaxing than by machine. Besides, my sewing room is my dining room table, and the family frowns upon eating between machines, cords, spools of thread, and fabric. Can't possibly imagine why.

I like the circles. That pattern sure lends itself to a lot of different interpretations. I like it a lot!

rb, what a beautiful quilt that will be. All hand done, unbelieveable to me as I have never done any hand quilting. Can't wait to see it finished. :D
