I love the quilt!! How cold does it get there? We are about to get into our hurricane season and with the oil spewing out into the gulf it could be a disaster!
Stay warm!

Ditter

We have a few below freezing point nights at the most 4 nights
and some snow on the higher Cederberg Mountain range, but not that cold that goes into the bones, like in Upington where we lived for sometime. There is gets so cold we had black frost where everything freezes to death.

HOLLYHOCK 05-25-2010 07:46 PM

Very nice quilt!! You are the first South African I've met on here.
Since Im originally from S.A. (living in N.Z. now), it' s a pleasure to make your aquaintance. I only learned to Patchwork and quilt since coming to N.Z. :P

Thanks for the compliments and I just love this quilt and its very warm. Have tested it last night. Just sat knitting a bit as knitting is for winter.

Welcome from upstate New York! Our warm weather is just starting!

Rachelcb80 05-26-2010 04:12 AM

Very pretty! It's so odd to think that winter is just starting on the other side of the world. Summer is in full swing here and it's starting to remind me of why I like winter. :)

renee765 05-26-2010 05:29 AM

How neat is it that someone from South Africa can put a picture of her quilt on this board, and get ooohs and ahhhs from people in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States!

Your quilt is gorgeous - thanks for sharing!

sandpat 05-27-2010 05:18 AM

You say it will get cold there soon. What is the average temperature during a South African winter?
A curious Canadian just asking...

marla 05-27-2010 12:36 PM

Oh my Sewsue! Lovely quilt! Do you have elec yr rnd?

peabee 05-27-2010 04:17 PM

sewsue 05-27-2010 08:26 PM

In This area we rarely have below freezing point temps. But higher up in the mountains it does snow.

We dont have many nights below freezing point but do have snow in the higher mountain range, but the temps differ depends on where one lives. Like the previous place we lived at
Upington in the Northern Cape which is semidesert we had absolute freezing black ice temperatures. We also have lots of rain but not the pouring one, it last for days and then it is light and lots. No thunder. glad of that, I hate thunder.

Think she means- do you have electric year round? Some people like to abbreviate words and some are hard to tell what they mean.

Your quilt looks great and warm.

The quilt's beautiful.

You mentioned winter, and confused me since it's 100 degrees here. Then I saw that you're below the equator - makes sense now! :)
