Thanks for oohing & aahing.

Yes mom embroiders by hand. She is so fast that there are 3 of us girls she gives blocks to. We can't keep up with her so we asked her to take a break and make us each a tablecloth.

Now she is working on tops for our grandchildren.

Here are some more.

Hope I can still pick up (or even want to) a needle at 88. Your Mom is a treasure and if she wants any more daughters, I am a candidate

Karenmay 08-30-2008 05:26 AM

Oh that's beautiful work! My Mum taught me how to embroider when I was a little girl...and even now I cant resist buying anything emboidered.
Would your Mum like to adopt me? Then I could persuade her to embroider a rose for me! lol! (my eyesight's not what it was!)

Sandra Craig 08-30-2008 06:17 AM

beautiful work love the little girl quilt oh heck I love the rose too

CissyQuilts 08-30-2008 10:39 AM

 WOW!!! Your mother is super talented!

Quiltingly Yours 08-30-2008 11:04 AM

That is so good that your mother still continues with her love of sewing, lots of people just give up, maybe because of poor eye site? I hope my eyes hold out for me.
I love the roses and the vines and leaves are beautiful, I wish I had seen this a few months ago. I'm making a border right now and I love her leaves better then the ones I'm using. I'll have to make a sketch so I can remember this pattern. Did she machine applique or embroidery the leaves? I'm doing mine by hand applique and I'm not really in any hurry, I've got the center of the quilt competed and hanging on a hanger waiting for the boarders.. One almost done and three to go!

Thanks for sharing and be sure to tell your mother her work is awesome! If she's in the market for another daughter... I know where she can find one!

The last ones were my mothers. These aren't embroidery but they are my daughters quilts. I helped with her first one (the plaid one) and while she lived in Panama she made one with traditional Panamanian fabrics.

Just thought I'd share.

mamatobugboo 09-10-2008 06:52 PM

i am truly in awe of your mother's skill and talent - does she use a pattern or are these her own creations?? My MIL embroiders, but not nearly to that degree. YOU GO MOM!!
